ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities, as outlined in the scope and tasks and assignments sections below, are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive.   • Support engineering teams in the execution of test-protocols and projects

  • Perform tasks & assignments with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrate technical competence in testing and writing

  • Ongoing development of capabilities with test methods and equipment

POTENTIAL TASKS AND ASSIGNMENTS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE POSITION

  • Review and provide input in the generation of formal test protocols and reports.

  • Assist in the execution of test protocols and procedures.

  • Set-up and operate test equipment and record measurements with little assistance.

  • Maintain accurate data and organize and present data in a reportable format.

  • Provide equipment, process and test method training to other engineering technicians as well as manufacturing or QC personnel as required.

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of BD policies and procedures and ISO and FDA requirements.

  • Expedite and track development builds through documentation and manufacturing processes.

  • Able to work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety requirements outlined by BD policies.

  • Support management of lab equipment and supplies.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in standard laboratory practices

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Proficiency in personal computer software, especially Minitab and Excel

  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal)

  • Ability with mathematical concepts, problem solving and critical thinking

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data and recommend actions

  • Ability to provide inputs for technical reports and protocols

  • Ability to coordinate test protocols

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment within the area of assigned responsibilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 2 years of experience within any of the following: quality, product development, testing lab environment, or equivalent setting required.

  • 3+ years of experience in materials or physical properties lab preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is in an office and laboratory environment and requires the incumbent to sit, stand and perform general office functions. The incumbent may also be required to lift up to twenty-five pounds occasionally. The incumbent may be required to stand for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required.
