Job Description Summary

Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business support, technical, or production staff in an assigned area. Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion. Coordinates work activities with other supervisors. Has in-depth knowledge of work processes and tools within own area. Applies expertise to solve standard and non-standard problems within own area

Responsible for ensuring production schedule fulfillment as well as compliance and adherence to all FDA, GMP, ISO, Environmental/Safety regulations, and all company associated policies. Communicates effectively with all functions including Packaging, Purchasing, Planning, Quality, Engineering, R&D and their assigned production and material handling teams.

The Production and Material Handling Supervisors are responsible to assign resources, create training plans, and track performance metrics to achieve manufacturing goals and meet customer needs. First and foremost the goal of the Supervisor is to ensure associates are working safely and achieving the highest level of quality for our products. Additional accountabilities include: Driving efficiencies through Continuous Improvement initiatives, Managing and tracking all required training, Developing, Coaching, and Mentoring associates, Maintaining critical master data, Conducting accurate and efficient transactions, and for maintaining documentation and records to comply with regulatory requirements and company procedures.

Essential Roles:

  • Coordinate and support Instrument Plant production operators and test technicians Packaging associates, and material handlers in completing daily activities.

  • Interact with Production Planners in establishing production schedules based on product mix and process/staffing limitations.

  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring daily production / inventory schedules.

  • Manages efficient utilization of resources to meet customer demands. Drives Lean Initiatives including PVD boards, Blitzes and Shift Startup Meetings.

  • Monitor and audit area to ensure compliance to Plant procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assures timely review and auditing of production records for accuracy and completeness, timely and accurate execution of SAP PE, PP, QM and/or WM transactions. Must be able to understand and manage the manufacturing process along with its associated SAP process.

  • Works directly with Engineering to maintain appropriate updated TI’s, MI’s, SMP’s and SOP’s.

  • Works directly with the Plant Manager in maintaining and tracking appropriate production and efficiency metrics. May be asked to present associated metrics to Team or Plant level meetings.

  • Provide support for routine, periodic, special or annual/continuous inventories.

  • Assure production and/or warehouse areas meets all GMP regulations, ISO standards and Safety policies.

  • Coordinate and ensure the training of all manufacturing and/or material handling associates in their areas.

  • Follows all company and Plant safety/housekeeping policies.

  • Support activities related to internal and External (Regulatory) audits and Plant tours as required.

  • Responsible to coordinate and manage all inventory activities including cycle counting, material transactions, and inventory planning.

  • Supervise all material handling activities including inbound receiving, decontamination, replenishment to the floor, packaging and kitting, and outbound shipping. All corresponding transactions as well.

  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet business requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals.

  • Performs annual reviews on production associates including corrective actions if required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to seek and accept feedback from others.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, process validations, safe work practices and ISO 9001 and 13485 requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Knowledge and Skills

  • Requires good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Requires organizational and planning skills to meet weekly and monthly production schedules.

  • High mechanical / electrical aptitude preferred.

  • Must be dependable, flexible and able to respond on short notice to satisfy requirements of other areas.

  • Must have a working knowledge of Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word and relevant ERP / Manufacturing system(s).

  • Exposure to, and formal training in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is preferred.

Education and Experience

  • A High School diploma (or equivalent), good work history, interpersonal and communication skills are required.

  • Associate must have 2-3 years experience in ERP systems and general manufacturing and warehouse operations.

  • B.S. degree in a technical or business field preferred

  • At least 2 years of demonstrated supervisory experience required, preferably in medical manufacturing, instrument production, or inventory / warehousing.

  • Broad knowledge of regulatory requirements, manufacturing and the industry.

  • Strong safety background preferred

  • Understanding of SAP preferred

Skills and Aptitude

  • Ability to assess talent, hire, and assign resources to optimize efficiency.

  • Strong ability to coach, develop, and provide feedback to associates effectively to ensure development of associates and accountability to meeting expectations.

  • Effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to share knowledge with others.

  • Adequate computer skills including word processing and excel usage required.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate, modify, and follow a wide range of procedures and direct product/process knowledge preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment and maintain a consistent leadership approach.
