Job Description Summary

The Senior Quality Scientist (Analytical Chemistry) has responsibility for applying/interpreting scientific data of moderate to difficult complexity and ensuring good laboratory practices. The Senior Quality Scientist implements Standard Operating Procedures that are compliant to the policy’s for the organization. Develops and maintains schedules and timelines. Ensures documentation process compliance.

The role provides guidance on experiments and test methods for the Quality Control Laboratory and/or supplier qualification; identifies and recommends opportunities for continuous improvement (internal/external). Applies statistical tools, to analyze data and identify root cause and problem resolution.

Responsibilities include monitoring and trending laboratory data related to components, manufacturing process and shipped product. Considers Critical To Quality (CTQ) parameters and risk assessment in decision making processes to support predictable product flow. Initiates corrective actions.

Well versed in standard chemistry concepts, practices & procedures.

Experience with method development, especially on LC systems.

Responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and analysis of experimental protocols.

Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of all activities related to Testing and Projects.

Evaluates the chemical properties of various organic, inorganic & biochemical substances in order to investigate their application and/or suitability for use.

Problem solving abilities, troubleshooting of analytical instrumentation and ensuring it is maintained in a proper state of compliance.

Experience and knowledge in theory, method development and validation of analytical test methods and instrumentation including HPLC ,UPLC, IMS, IR, UV/Vis, ICP, LCMS, Ion Chromatography, TOC and CAD.

Uses knowledge and experience of various analytical techniques to make method enhancements and/or develop new methods as required.

Responsible for maintaining Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) relative to all research activities.

Reviews test data for completeness and accuracy.

Works well in a team setting.

Excellent Communication Skills required.

Excellent multitasking capabilities.

Interacts with Supervisor, Manager and/or other departments in presenting findings. May act as QC Chemistry representative across functional areas or with vendors/customers. Is expected to represent QC Chemistry and BD in a professional manner at all times.

Keep abreast of new technology and make recommendations for test method and testing capability enhancements.

Requirements:

  • BS or BA in related field required with a minimum of 5 years of experience

  • Good communication skills required.

  • Works well in a team setting.

  • Possess superior multitasking skills, be detailed oriented, and able to work in a high stress environment with deadlines.

Preferred and Additional Skills and Qualification:

  • Preferred candidate will have 3 – 5 years of experience performing method development.
