The Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) Life Sciences, Integrated Diagnostic Solutions business is seeking a Service Test Technician to join our talented and diverse team. As a Service Test Technician you will become part of the Global Technical Services organization located in Sparks, MD.

The Service Test Technician role offers a unique view of BD Integrated Diagnostic Solutions and is a great opportunity to learn and become familiar with BD’s products. The Service Test Technician will have the opportunity to work side by side with product subject matter experts, and as he/she develops within Global Technical Services will have the opportunity to learn and support service processes / projects.

JOB SUMMARY:

The key focus areas for the Service Test Technician are as follows:

  • Quarterly security patch testing across IDS instrumentation.

  • User testing for new /updated instrument software.

  • Testing/validation of existing and new service bulletins and procedures.

  • Draft new service bulletins given technical content from instrument SME’s.

  • Support continuous improvement and sustaining projects.

  • Support for service processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gains user level and basic servicing knowledge for IDS instrumentation.

  • Learns procedures for and performs quarterly patch testing across IDS instrumentation, ensures testing is completed in a timely manner so that patches are released quarterly.

  • Follows test plans and is able to effectively document and communicate results to instrument SME.

  • Develops and tests service bulletins based on technical content provided by instrument SME’s.

  • Provides support to keep service manuals up to date, including incorporation of expiring service bulletins, or making updates based on findings of procedure testing/validation activities.

  • Analyze results and data to determine pass/fail and provide solutions when there is a fail result.

  • Complete activities in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and in accordance with BD's expectations for Safety and Quality.

  • Complete work activity in the accordance to BD's defined specifications, operating procedures, and company policies.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment through execution of all housekeeping responsibilities including organizing to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

  • Demonstrates the ability to follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements.

  • Performs other duties as required.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Must demonstrate capability to provide overall support of testing for complex instruments.

  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical tools including torque drivers, gauges, bits, etc.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage time across multiple priorities.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting to reach common goals.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand and work within specified Quality procedures.

  • Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic

  • Strong proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of a Windows environment is required

  • Strong math and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates or technical/trade degree.

  • 3 years of relevant (regulated/medical device environment) work experience is preferred.
