Job Description Summary

The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of key product feature sets with a cross-discipline team to ensure the infectious disease diagnostic informatics platforms deliver a comprehensive and customer centric solution. This position is responsible for identifying and executing feature releases that ensure product robustness, reliability, quality and customer satisfaction. The Manager role requires a strong understanding of the clinical microbiology market, in order to manage work priority based on the overall vision and business opportunities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provides day-to-day leadership for multiple software development teams, both local and remote to ensure on-time delivery of feature and product releases.

  • Translates voices of customer, business, field service, and internal customers to define and prioritize feature backlog for development team.

  • Takes an active role in identifying and solving tactical challenges faced by development teams to minimize unnecessary development delays.

  • Ensures robust two-way communication with leadership regarding team progress and challenges.

  • Drives feature design to deliver optimal balance of scope and delivery timeline for the molecular informatics platform

  • Maintains continual engagement with customer-facing team(s) to validate planned feature work and prioritization against market needs.

  • Provide and drive system/solution level thinking and end customer point of view into the organization.

  • Work closely with product teams to deliver cohesive customer experience across various solutions.

  • Work with user experience and all other Synapsys teams to ensure a consistent user experience across Synapsys for multiple molecular instruments as well as microbiology users.

  • Works with multiple business lines to align multiple backlogs of new product development for the understanding of dependencies/priorities and create proposed scope of upcoming product increments to be approved by highest level molecular business.

  • Drives the sustaining backlog and ensures prioritization of all molecular enhancements/bugs coming in from the field.

  • Ensures delivery of training and knowledge transfer of the molecular platform to all stakeholders as needed.

  • Assists in the creation of demo databases for training and testing efforts.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance to regulatory and medical guidelines for US and all regions outside of US.

  • Acts as the product owner for the molecular analytics and stays aligned with analytics team backlog items/roadmap.

  • Understands the matrix of software versions across the molecular solution and impact to molecular users as each Synapsys version and each of the various instrument software versions roll out.

  • Contributes to Synapsys IFU and release notes as needed, contributes to instrument and service documentation as needed.

  • Works with cross-functional teams in appropriate time-zones in US and overseas (Ireland and India).

Professional Skills and experience

  • Displays highly motivated inner drive and a can-do spirit

  • Requires at least a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a scientific discipline (i.e. molecular biology, microbiology, or virology).

  • The candidate must have experience in a research and development environment and a minimum of 2 years of team or cross-functional leadership experience.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and/or lead technical teams effectively in the absence of a direct reporting structure.

  • Familiarity with engineering disciplines, particularly software development, to drive credibility with technical teams.

  • Strong knowledge of the clinical laboratory environment is preferred

  • Previous experience working within an Agile product development framework is desirable with experience in Product Owner roles preferred
