Job Description Summary

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager/Architect with strong technical and people management skills, a proven track record, excellent communication, leadership skills, coupled with a passion for quality, agility and efficiency. You will be responsible for managing software engineers/testers in India providing technical, people and organizational leadership and drive software engineering excellence. This position requires strong collaboration across teams, across time zones and functional & organizational boundaries and experience in leading teams in the (IVD) laboratory diagnostics informatics domain. Your ability to create a vision, motivate and energize software development teams, get buy-in from the rest of the organization, be the technical leader, focus on the right solution, and be part of a team that tears down silos to deliver the best Quality of software will be critical to your success.

You need to be hands-on software manager/architect, bring innovative approaches that continuously improve our ability to deliver Quality software and develop the next generation of Enterprise Software (Informatics) platform. You are expected to work closely with the functional leadership in the US and co-ordinate software development in offshore teams (India, Europe and South America). The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of key product feature sets with a cross-discipline team to ensure the molecular infectious disease diagnostic informatics platforms deliver a comprehensive and customer centric solution.

Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and build off-shore (India) associates/teams by providing coaching and mentoring to junior engineers while guiding senior contributors to maximize their potential. Operate across time zones.

  • Provide continuous performance feedback, collaborate with employees on their objectives and provide a clear path for progression through personal development plans.

  • Be hands-on with the software teams - contributing to the code base in the early days of the team and product.

  • Institute development best practices to ensure the team produces high quality, well-architected and supportable code. Lead code and architecture design reviews.

  • Own, operate and maintain your team’s deliverables. Employ Agile methodologies to continuously deliver value to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate on roadmaps with Product Managers, Architects, and Tech Leads to ensure the team has clear direction and priorities. Ensure there is cross-training and a healthy balance between features and technical debt.

  • Build, develop and grow a healthy, diverse, agile software development team.

  • Mentor & coach engineers and be a great role model for them.

  • Anticipate, identify, assess, track and mitigate project and technical risks and issues.

  • Drive thought leadership and strive for excellence in everything you do.

  • Managing advancement and deployment of specific disciplines and technologies

  • Actively participating in the Software Engineering process

  • Actively building out an evolving an Architecture practice to support the department

  • Act as an Evangelist of the Company & the Product Architecture

  • Be a Domain Expert in one or more areas of the Product, Architecture or Process

Education and Experience:

  • BS in Computer Science. MS will be preferred.

  • 10-15 years of software development and architecture experience (C# and .NET framework)

  • Experience working in a large-scale organization driving collaboration across multiple disciplines and teams.

  • Exposure to SDLC from reviewing requirements through to operating and debugging complex software.

  • SAFe knowledge preferred. Azure DevOps is a must. Healthcare/medical device experience will be a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills that can provide clarity to audiences.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong technical expertise and a minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in C# and .NET Framework.

  • Strong JavaScript Frameworks expertise and a minimum of 3 years of experience in Angular.

  • Strong experience in Entity Framework

  • Strong experience in XML querying

  • Strong experience in T-SQL

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Typescript, RxJS, HTML, LESS/CSS and Node.js.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with .NET Core.

  • Experience with Golang (Google programming language)

  • Experience writing unit/integration tests and developing applications using a Test-Driven Development approach is mandatory.

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Bootstrap, jQuery.

  • Experience with source controls systems such as TFS, Azure DevOps and Git.

  • Demonstrable understanding of, and experience with SOA and RESTful architectures.

  • Ability to perform, implement and support higher and lower environments across a multi-faceted team spanning across multiple geographical locations.

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other related engineering field is required.

  • Should have excellent interpersonal skills, decision making and problem-solving skills.

  • Exposure to Agile, SAFe methodology a plus.
