Job Description
About the role
BD is in search of a talented R&D Senior Embedded Software Engineer looking to take their passion and experience with wearable infusion pumps, large volume injection devices, or the like to the next level into high volume manufacturing.
As a Senior Embedded Software with BD’s Pharmaceutical Systems team in Dublin, Ireland, you will have the opportunity to take a hands-on technical role on a cross functional project team developing the design, development, verification and validation of combination products in support of BD’s global R&D pipeline with special focus on the parenteral delivery of biologics and biosimilars. At its core, this role will give you the opportunity to develop user-centric drug delivery solutions designed to drive patient empowerment, independence, compliance, and improved health outcomes.
Main responsibilities will include:
Working with the electronic engineering team to support device development
Working as part of a cross functional dynamic team to collaboratively reach project targets and milestones.
Collaborating with the Software team, ensuring the correct integration of Hardware requirements into software, participating in code reviews, and reviewing Software related documentation such as SRS, SDD, etc.
Modification of Software Engineering releases to evaluate the feasibility of new functionalities implementation (proof of concept, technical feasibility etc.)
Providing support in testing of root cause investigations on malfunctioning product.
Coordinating EMC testing including ESD testing according to relevant medical device standards.
Development of test equipment for electronic circuit characterization
Development of software for device testing and analysis (Python, LabVIEW, Matlab, etc)
Performing of tests and characterization of electrical and electromechanical components
Protocol and report writing
Test method validation
Equipment validation
Product testing to support program milestones.
Training in appropriate test procedures and protocols as well as completion of on site compliance requirements through BD’s learning management system (C2C).
Using the laboratory with adherence to good laboratory practices (GLP) for product testing and good documentation practices (GDP) through planning, performing, monitoring, recording and reporting on product testing.
Ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with the required regulatory standards, conforms to company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintaining the laboratory and equipment to good safe working order and ensure readiness of the laboratory for internal/customer/regulatory inspections within the laboratory.
Schematic and PCBA design and development.
About you
Wide experience in embedded software development, from architecture definition to a driver level coding (preferably C)
Experience with Embedded SW code and SW tools configuration control and release management
Familiar with Development IDEs (e.g. IAR, Keil, Eclipse, and/or Visual Studio)
Familiar with Real Time Operating systems.
Experience with creating development tests.
Experience in the JTAG based debugging.
Knowledge of Software validation and verification processes including IEC 62304
Systematic approach to root cause analysis
Proficiency on using electronic lab equipment such as oscilloscope, Programmable power supplies, LCR meter, multimeter, etc
Good electronic circuits analysis and understanding
Knowledge of Python, MATLAB and LabVIEW
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desired:
Previous experience working with medical devices would be an advantage
PCB and schematic design would be an advantage (Altium or equivalent)
