Job Description

Provide solid engineering skill. Perform assigned product development activities. Set priorities for self and contribute to team planning. Develop an assessment of competitive products, processes or new trends. Develop an overview of relevant technologies and products. Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles. Ensure compliance with all local, state and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Support design and development activities for products within the current portfolio offerings as well as new product development. These activities include, test method & measurement system development and validation, fixture design, testing optimization, and testing in support of design verification and design validation.

  • Participate in executing technical project work. This will involve the application of engineering first principles and advanced engineering methods to gain deep understanding of the underlying technical issues, and to propose and implement robust solutions throughout product development and product lifecycle.

  • Provide technical ownership for product design aspects for developmental and commercial products within the platforms throughout their entire lifecycle.

  • Support project plan development and contribute to development of Design Verification strategy.

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation by proactively generating novel concepts to improve current product performance or to provide new features that enhance current products’ ability to address customer needs.

Min. Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree required, in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials or Biomedical Engineering or related field. MS or PhD preferred.

  • BS and a minimum 3 years of experience or Masters with 1 year leading and supporting product development projects in medical device

  • Hands-on experience with design and development of high volume disposable medical devices is highly desirable.

  • Experience with implementing product changes through a structured, phase-gated, product development process preferred

  • Good understanding of medical device product development risk management methodologies

  • Candidate must have good interpersonal/ communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work both as a member of a team and independently to accomplish responsibilities.

  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and diverse team environment, with all levels of leadership
