Job Description SummaryUnder the general direction of the Plant Manager, organizes, directs and coordinates all activities related to management of all assigned BD PAS manufacturing departments to accomplish safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives and fully implement the Manufacturing Strategies that support the BD annual plant objectives. Will influence the development and execution of annual ‘A3’ Manufacturing Strategies in a way that provides BD PAS with sustainable competitive advantages in Manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
Drive the operation of High Flow Tubes to achieve high performance, meet or exceed our annual goals, and provide for continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Works collaboratively with Engineering, the Site’s Safety Leader, and the site’s Safety Committee to enhance the plant’s safety culture and ensure a safe work environment.
Ensures full compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety standards.
Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including, but not limited to GMP, ISO and FDA standards. Also works in collaboration with the Quality Manager to drive continuous improvements’ in the plant’s quality system.
Coordinates with the site’s Continuous Improvement Manager and provides leadership and direction to ensure the sites’ Lean Culture and Lean Daily Management Systems are actively maintained and continuously improved.
Actively participates in the planning of new product introductions. Emphasis will be placed on the ability to achieve rapid implementation of new products, while meeting quality goals and productivity ramp-up curves.
Plans and conducts Quarterly Business Unit Town Hall meetings with all Department associates to provide performance to goal updates, ensuring safety, quality, productivity and waste focus, and providing communication regarding upcoming business plans.
Communicates clearly to the plant LT staff the business goals and objectives of assigned production operations and provides resources and guidance to reinforce the achievement of these goals.
Participates in the prioritization and management of plant engineering projects. In conjunction with the Engineering Manager, assures appropriate congruence with BD strategies.
Establishes and oversees the activities of multi-functional teams including all plant functions as required to achieve desired continuous improvement goals via use of Six Sigma, Lean Kaizen, 8D, and other problem solving methodologies.
Ensures the 6S appearance of all manufacturing areas are maintained on a daily basis in accordance with all applicable requirements and in-line with our safety standards and the image we want to portray to everyone who sees our facility.
Analyzes and controls manufacturing schedules to assure compliance with the master schedule issued by the Materials Control Department, and reviews performance against the schedule.
Oversees the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets for all assigned manufacturing departments and controls operations staffing and spending to assure attainment of the approved budget.
Develops and maintains procedures for waste reduction, improved efficiency and cost reduction programs relating to assigned manufacturing departments.
Originates or assesses measures designed to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
Interprets company policies and production procedures to subordinates and directs their activities.
Responsible for associate motivation by leading with a positive attitude, and fairly and professionally assuring the maintenance of good associates’ morale and timely disposition of associate complaints or roadblocks.
Ascertains the accuracy of production records submitted to Accounting, so that statements forwarded to Division Finance accurately depict the true financial status of the BD PAS manufacturing.
Analyzes and makes required changes in materials, manning and production when schedules are altered.
Responsible for formal Manpower Planning Program for Salaried exempt production personnel, including associate counseling, training, and development to ensure career progression and sufficient pipeline bench strength.
Oversee preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and ensure detailed and factual financial data is available to Division and Corporate.
Has direct interface and involvement with special groups on the Corporate, Division and plant level in developing plans for problem solving, process improvements.
