- JOB SUMMARY Operates equipment in the label placement or final packaging areas of the line, while maintaining budgeted efficiency rates. The Operator will not only maintain their area but will also assist other operators on the line. All operators are encouraged to assist with the operation of all other equipment on the line to meet efficiency and quality expectations. Performs in, and allows batch lines to run in, a safe and efficient manner.The training for line operations consist of: Line 4 and 6: (CT) Product Circular Insert Operator, (CT) Descrambler, (JT) Stopper and Evacuate Operator, (JT) TULLIP Operator (Automated) and (JT) Batch Final Pack Operator. Line 8: (CT) Product Circular Insert Operator, (CT) Descrambler, (JT) Stopper and Evacuate Operator, (JT) Pinch Tube Filler (800), (JT) TULLIP Operator (Line 8), (JT) TULLIP Operator (Manual), (JT) Automated Palletizer, and (JT) Batch Final Pack Operator Line 10: (CT) Product Circular Insert Operator, (CT) Descrambler, (JT) Stopper and Evacuate Operator (line 10 or FVS), (JT) TULLIP Operator (Automated) and (JT) Batch Final Pack Operator (JT) Automated Palletizer. Line 11: (CT) Product Circular Insert Operator, (CT) Descrambler, (JT) Stopper and Evacuate Operator, (JT) TULLIP Operator (Line 11) and (JT) Batch Final Pack Operator.Additional line operations may be assigned based off of business needs.Examples: L8 – (JT) TULLIP Operator (Manual), (JT) Pinch Tube Filler (800) are vital operations to run Line 2, which L8 personnel perform. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:Maintains a clean work area and reports any safety hazards to the Shift Supervisor.Knows and observes all Quality and GMP standards.Works efficiently and cooperates with supervision and other associates.Sets up, operates, and changes over equipment at TULLIP and Final pack area. Assists with changeover of other areas of the line as able.Clears all jams and maintains accurate adjustments on equipment at TULLIP and Final pack area.Lubricates stoppers and prints stopper tickets per BD quality specifications as assigned.Performs quality inspections according to operational Specifications for all operations performed, including FVS final inspections.Possesses solid understanding of current production reporting system and how it applies to all positions.Performs preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned in the TULLIP and Final pack area.Maintains raw material levels as assigned.Material handling of finished product as needed.Maintains an understanding of operation of equipment at the Spray Coat and Stopper Placement and Evacuation areas. May operate equipment in these areas for short term assignments, such as breaks and absences. Physical demands requirement are in excess of those for Light Work.Mental RequirementsAbility to read, write and understand English.Equipment UseDescrambler, Spray coater, Quick-Check, Stopper Luber, Metro/Russell, Pinch Tube Filler, Hull, Tullip, Oliver, Shelf Labeler, Case Packer, Pallet mover.Working ConditionsThe worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals and broken glass.SupervisionReports directly to Department Shift Supervisor. Has no supervision over others.Pay Progression by Job Level and training period limits:The associate will earn grade 5 pay until such time that proficiency is proven on all line operations with the exception of the spray coater. The associate will progress to a grade 6 at such time that proficiency is proven. The associate will remain at pay grade 5 when the physical layout of the line limits their ability to operate additional equipment.The associate will be allowed 9 months to demonstrate the necessary competencies. If at any point during the training period it is determined the associate is not progressing, or it becomes evident that they are unable to perform the essential functions of the job, the individual will be disqualified from the position. The associate will be reassigned with a preference to their current shift, but may be assigned to an alternate shift depending on staffing needs.
