Job Description Summary

Reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager. Responsible for identification of opportunities and implementation of solutions to improve plant processes and drive plant objectives (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost). Deliver improvement with both technical and social solutions to eliminate waste of all types (transport, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Over production, Over processing, Defects, etc.) Required to handle multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in implementation of continuous improvement programs / projects as developed by the plant manager, continuous improvement manager or the plant executive steering committee.

  • Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to develop continuous improvement strategies for process improvement

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems using engineering skills and problem-solving methodologies.

  • Provide mentoring for application of technical principles, concepts and problem-solving tools. (six sigma, lean, DMAIC, PDCA, A3, 5Y, etc)

  • Lead Kaizen blitz events based on the principles of lean manufacturing.

  • Performs other duties as required by manager.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Preferred:

  • Six Sigma Certification and or Lean Leader Certification

Ex perience / Skills:

  • Five years or more experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Three years or more experience in continuous improvement (leading Kaizen events)

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Solid computer skills (MS office, Minitab, CAD)

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong technical skills, including troubleshooting and design

  • Demonstrated problem solving capability

  • Capable of being a hands-on engineer

  • Ability to influence without authority

  • Mentorship and coaching experience

  • Demonstrated project management and execution skills

  • Work independently or in a team environment
