ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Direct resources to address machine downtime issues and improve machine performance through application of engineering principles and the countermeasure mentality.

  • Develop Cost Improvement plans to support cost reduction initiatives.

  • Drive development of MES capabilities and data-driven decision-making in Engineering group.

  • Co-own adherence to, and improvement of MAP escalation process.

  • Ensures rapid response to technical matters impacting production output. Advises Technical Lead positions on effective resource allocation and technical issues prioritization to minimize impact to production output.

  • Provides significant leadership for process and machine designs for new product/process developments.

  • Identifies and implements significant continuous improvement projects.

  • Directly responsible for the outcome of other engineering resource performance and results, provides direct supervision, decision making, and guidance to less senior engineers.

  • Significant interaction with Quality and Production groups to problem solve and develop plans for improvement in both areas.

  • Provides lead in creativity around solving problems. Generally able to identify solutions to problem and/or assemble and lead a larger cross-functional group to develop solutions.

  • Works with and provides resources to Central Engineering for large scale projects such as machine purchase and installations, as well as the building of whole machines or processes.

  • Vendor interaction, equipment specifications/design, concepts and negotiations.

  • Degree of Accountability (discretion/supervision) – works independently with little to no input required, reports to the Senior Operations Manager. Accountable for capital budgets, design outcomes. Generates new project ideas.

  • Ensures that all equipment is safe to operate. Actively promotes and leads safety of the technical group.

  • Validation – With the assistance of the QE and validation team, drives Engineering team to create all necessary documentation associated with the BD change control process and coordinates validation activities to ensure on time execution according to the project or process improvement plan.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D. (if hired after 6/1/00) Internal transfers exempted

  • BA/BS Degree (Major: Engineering field; Mechanical Engineering preferred)

Masters Degree (Major: _Engineering field, Mechanical Eng preferred)

Experience and Knowledge Required

  • 2-4 years of direct supervisory experience

  • 6-8 years of Engineering experience in medical device manufacturing, preferably in a high volume environment
