BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Quality Continuous Improvement Manager in Columbus (East), Nebraska

Job Description Summary

As the Quality Continuous Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support for Continuous Improvement program projects within BD Pharma System through the use of Six Sigma, Lean, and project management best practices.

Your will facilitate lean blitz sessions and develop Continuous Improvement reporting metrics. You will work with and support sites Six Sigma & Lean Continuous Improvement leaders to identify and generate solutions and to eliminate barriers to process improvement. You will provide training and metrics as well as QA support to business programs e.g. KDG’s (Key Driver Goals), organizational design and technology roadmaps.

You will drive multi-site worldwide continuous improvement initiatives geared towards reducing product and compliance risk (CAPA, NC, Complaints, high risk quality events, etc.) as well as identify and drive opportunities for CI as a result of trends across BD Pharma System sites.

Job Description

Main responsibilities

  • Focuses on improving processes that support the PS Objectives. A key area of focus will be Ops QA.

  • Works with all PS functions to drive CI projects beyond Product Engineering and New Product Development e.g. improving functional work processes.

  • Establishes tracking mechanisms that record measurable results of CI in terms of process efficiency, customer satisfaction, financial and non-financial benefits, and transfers those mechanisms to the functions. Benchmarks internal and external organizations. Identifies, implements, leverages and transfers best practice knowledge to the PS organization.

  • Collaborates with a network of Site QA Leaders and PS CI leaders that will support the deployment and anchoring of CI capabilities across the PS functions and sites.

  • Collaborates with Corporate Quality on key BD CI strategies and objectives.

  • Manages PS business program to drive best practices across the manufacturing sites.

  • Mentors and certifies CI practitioners across the PS organization.

About you

To deliver the results that we are looking for, you are a professional educated to degree-level with at least 7 years of experience in a quality CI role gained preferably within medical devices or pharma industry. You are an expert in lean management (Black Belt Six Sigma would be a strong asset).

You have strong manufacturing process understanding and demonstrated ability to discuss both technical and business issues with all levels of management. You have analytical approach and the ability to synthetize complex or diverse information. Your critical thinking and innate curiosity allow you to ask the right questions and thoroughly understand the subject you are dealing with.

In addition, you are pro-active, self-directed, problem-solving person with high positive energy to take on continuous and complex business challenges in a fast-paced environment. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills which allow you to build collaborative relationships with diverse teams across the organisation. You demonstrate interpersonal influence and persuasion skills and you engage those who disagree to persuade or be persuaded.

Finally, you are fluent in English and willing to travel occasionally (between 10% and up to 15%).
