Job Description SummaryThe Continuous Improvement Lead must be able to:

•Inspire, motivate and lead others while driving business needs.

•Train others and utilize Lean Manufacturing tools to deliver results.

•Be responsible for the documentation of CI department, Six Sigma and blitz activities/results.

•Follow up to ensure project closure.

•Lead the ESC, Multi Site CI Initiative, represent the plant in Medical Surgical/BDX Continuous Improvement meetings.

•Lead monthly Voice of the Customer meetings.

•Use value stream maps and other continuous improvement tools to identify and drive out non-valued opportunities.

•Facilitate plant wide SOF process.

•Prepare and present quarterly updates.

•Take on additional assignments as needed.

Job Description

Continuous Improvement Leader

•Is responsible for achieving the specific process improvement goals as established by the Plant Leadership Team.

•Provides a coaching and mentoring role with the business leadership teams and support groups in order to identify, initiate, and complete continuous improvement activities (blitzes, mini-blitzes, PIT teams). The scope of these activities includes all plant functions.

•Leads/co-leads lean blitzes.

•Supports the SAP Coordinator in mini blitzes/PIT projects.

•Summarization of blitz open action items and sets up monthly meetings to review their status.

•Auditing of blitz files and works to ensure proper documentation.

•Shares responsibility with the department Lean Practitioner for maintaining and reporting progress to the Lean Blitz Calendar. Follows up on results (productivity, quality, waste dollars).

•Participates and as needed leads monthly Voice of the Customer meetings.

•Assists in maintaining the plant Continuous Improvement information boards.

•Assists departments with the CI Model by setting up meetings to review current state VSM’s, brainstorming improvement opportunities and identifying/preparing future state VSM’s. This person shall be capable of leading this activity and presenting results to the ESC and others.

•Shares ownership for the LDMS program with the MDP Engineer

  • ◦Assists MDP in the monthly collection and summary of completed KAS and 20 Key Scores.

  • ◦Assists MDP in the scheduling, preparation and presentation for the monthly Mentor/Facilitator training meetings.

  • ◦Assists MDP in the coordination (and presentation of) KAS award program.

  • ◦LDMS training for new hires.

  • ◦LDMS Facilitator, Mentor and Auditor training as needed.

  • ◦Assists in the preparation of LDMS materials for Team Briefings, for example, training materials and completed KAS.

  • ◦Quarterly LDMS audits and reporting of audit results.

  • ◦Back to Basics audits per schedule.

  • ◦CI PVD board and LDMS audit results.

  • May be called on to assist in the planning, preparation and performance of plant wide initiatives.

  • Some travel may be required.

Required Skills and Knowledge

Education

Required: Minimum Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s preferred.

Experience

Required: 3 – 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience,

Training : A Certified Lean Leader or Certified Lean Practitioner is highly recommended. A trained Lean Leader or Lean Practitioner may be considered. If not certified, it is expected that this person achieve certification within their 1st year.

Demonstrated success in the following areas:

  • working with teams to solve problems

  • facilitating meetings and presenting results

Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office software

Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multiple projects at a time.
