The EHS Leader I is located at BD Operations in Covington, GA.

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

Responsible for executing and sustaining environmental, health, and safety programs, support of facility and operations projects and pest control for the Covington and Madison GA facilities

Essential job Functions:

Executes environmental health and safety programs and ensures site compliance to all EHS DOPs and SOPs. These programs include: Internal EHS audit program, site emergency response program, site safety committees, incident investigation program, safety training program, hot work program, EHS metric data gathering, collection, and score card reporting.

Conducts EHS training on a variety of topics such as HAZCOM, PPE, Storm Water, NFPA 70E, Emergency Evacuation, CPR/AED, and Confined Space. Coordinates with external contractors and agencies to assist with training as needed.

Responsible for filing and document storage of all EHS related documents, updates EHS procedures as assigned.

Responsible for ensuring the inspection and testing of all fire extinguishers, PIVs, emergency lighting, eye wash stations, safety showers, first aid kits, AEDs, and other safety equipment. Provides technical expertise and assists with inspections as needed. Approves all facility hot work and impairment permits. Coordinates and supervises outside contractors as needed.

Responsible for the maintenance and testing of the facilities fire alarm and associated systems. Coordinates and supervises outside contractors to make repairs and upgrades as needed.

Responsible for support of facility and operations related projects including construction, renovation or improvements.

Keeps up to date on all current and pending environmental, health and safety legislation and regulations. Adheres to all SOPs, DOPs, and QSR requirements.

Executes EHS Projects and Implements Safety Programs as required, assists with developing the safety budget

Performs other duties as assigned

May require off-shift and/or weekend work. Needs to be on-call 24/7.

Basic Qualifications:

• Employee must be self-driven; have high energy, solid attention to detail skills, and possess excellent interpersonal skills with all employee levels • Employee must have superior communication, time management, and organizational skills. • Knowledgeable in fire protection systems, emergency response programs, safety committees, and audit programs. • Ability to provide safety training to all levels of employees on a variety of safety topics • Must be knowledgeable in EPA, OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations • Must be proficient in some Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Must be comfortable using data base programs. • Must be experienced in both General Industry and Construction Environments • Ability to work in a fast paced changing environment. Must be self-motivated by working independently and have the ability to take ownership of her/his responsibilities • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently; ability to effectively manage time. • Ability to exercise tact, maturity and judgment when dealing with employees and visitors/vendors • Strong listening, assessment, questioning and problem-solving skills • Ability to participate on teams and maintain positive work environment with those teams
