Job Description Summary

A new global technical leadership role has been created within UCC to step change the Change To Win program so that it can achieve ≥6% annual savings over COGS, while safeguarding the Voice of the Customer requirements.

The purpose of the role is to provide specific technical leadership to drive the UCC CTW Global 3 year rolling project Pipeline as well as leading COE activities related to drainage device manufacturing and design. The job holder is a single contributor who leads through the organizational matrix. Has authority to deliver results through others and influences the success of the ideation process within CTW while involving senior functional stakeholders.

Sites in scope: 4 sites (-Moncks Corner, SC -Kulim, Malaysia -Juarez, Mexico -Nogales, Mexico) and strategic finished goods suppliers (Conod, Amsino, Degania, etc).

Technologies in scope:

• Latex and silicone catheters including intermittent catheters

• Drainage bags and urine output measurement equipt.

• External male / female catheters including Purewick

Job Description

Core responsibilities:

  • Design and co-lead ideation brainstorming sessions with international cross functional teams.

  • Develop CTW project technical + financial feasibility analysis as well as cross functional resource planning for T1 projects (≥ $500K savings annually).

  • Lead and/or provide technical support during implementation of strategic CTW Projects. Participate in the UCC CTW phase-gate process as Project Leader or Technical support.

  • Initiate or help to scope Cost Improvements for Urinage Drainage products through new product design support, current process efficiency improvements and DFM Techniques.

Ancillary responsibilities:

  • Research and provide process improvement methods based on the latest manufacturing methods and raw material usage.

  • Provide training to plant & division technical/supervisory staff in methods of manufacturing drainage devices made of NRL, Silicone, PVC and other synthetic polymers.

  • Participate in international med device industry conferences.

Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Polymer Science) required.

  • MS or MBA degree preferred

  • Prefer seven (7) years relevant experience in a medical device manufacturing environment, preferably using Natural Rubber Latex and Silicone

  • Successfully executed large scale technical cost improvement projects

  • Working Knowledge of Quality Systems Regulatory requirements, including ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820, and their application to Company /Unit requirements

Professional Skills & Key Competencies :

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management and leadership. Formal PM Certification is desired.

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with senior executives at VP level.

  • Successfully leading cross-functional teams through a balance of challenge (holding people accountable) and support (training / recognition)

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to conceptualize ideas, motivate and focus individuals and teams and drive projects through completion on time and on budget

  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 20%)

  • Understanding and ability to execute DOEs and process validations

  • Understanding of GMPs and medical device regulations as they apply to manufacturing

Desired / Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • CQE and/or other Quality/Statistical knowledge

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time position

  • Days and hours of work vary depending on business needs

  • Travel to other sites in the US, Mexico and Asia will be required to support complex project planning and collaboration
