This position leads project teams and provides technical effort toward the development and sustaining activities of new products, line extensions, product & process changes into the medical device market. The position plays a key role in leading teams through the development and changes of products including FDA & EU-MDR compliance issues involved with medical devices. The position requires the development of an understanding of the current medical device markets, customer requirements and manufacturing processes along with the ability to interact with manufacturing sites, suppliers and sometimes doctors and other medical professionals.

JOB OVERVIEW:

  • This position leads project teams and provides technical effort toward the development and sustaining activities of new products, line extensions, product & process changes into the medical device market.

  • The position plays a key role in leading teams through the development and changes of products including FDA & EU-MDR compliance issues involved with medical devices.

  • The position requires the development of an understanding of the current medical device markets, customer requirements and manufacturing processes along with the ability to interact with manufacturing sites, suppliers and sometimes doctors and other medical professionals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in specifying performance criteria against which a candidate product design or product design changes must be challenged.

  • Documents the new product development process and the design change process, e.g., create/update specifications, define and perform testing protocols, prepare comprehensive performance reports, and comply with QMS requirements.

  • Write and perform engineering testing on a variety of products. This includes hands on testing.

  • Creates and presents prototypes/proposed products in marketplace and draw conclusions relative to user attitudes/acceptance of the device/system.

  • Assists in ensuring the QMS compliance of design control process in product & process development.

  • Knowledge of DOE’s, process validations, and other QMS requirements.

  • Performs gap analysis, engineering drawings, electronic schematics and product specifications.

  • Brainstorms new inventions or solutions to current problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • BS degree in a technical field such as Electrician Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other engineering field is required.

  • 3-5 years of experience working as a project manager/leader.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in medical device product and process development.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point & Microsoft Project.

  • Proficient in Minitab & Solid works (Create and modify components & assemblies. Create 2D drawings from 3D models).

  • Technical knowledge with capital equipment and/or electronic components is a plus. Including ability to understand electrical schematic diagrams.

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, design of experiments & other statistical concepts.

  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Chinese is a plus.

  • Internal BD-UCC process knowledge is a plus. This include (High level of knowledge with Master Control, Knowledge on process to perform/request testing for Packaging, Stability, and Biocompatibility & Worked on Sustaining Engineering projects).
