We are now looking for an Engineering Moulding Technician (3-year Contract). The Engineering Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, overhaul, adjustment and modification of moulding / production processes and equipment, as well as the fabrication of new and replacement equipment / Spares. The Engineering Technician will also be involved in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure smooth operation of the plant. This role will be specifically fine tuning moulding & plant equipment to increase output and reduce downtime and waste. This person will maintain moulding / plant lines at optimal performance and work to the highest engineering standards. This person is to deal with all breakdowns within the Plant and maintain appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (e.g., breakdowns, maintenance etc.)

This role will assist in the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging etc. This person will be expected to operate CNC equipment to produce spare parts and support operations. This person will deal/liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops. They will assist with the training of other, Technicians, new recruits and apprentices as required. This person will be expected to fully participate in companywide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable. This person will be computer literate and fully use all current and new IT/processing systems e.g., SAP.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Install, modify and maintain the full range of moulding & Plant equipment;

· Improve the moulding & plant operations. This includes: Specifically fine tuning moulding & plant equipment to increase output, reducing downtime and reducing waste, carry out mould overhauls as required & complete In-press repairs, etc;

· Operate manual equipment (Mills / Lathe / Grinders) to produce spare parts and support operations;

· Be involved in analysing customer complaints and internal quality issues and assist in drawing up improvement programmes for equipment to eliminate these defects being produced;

· Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping to ensure area, machines and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition. Correct and/or report unsafe conditions and other faults.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years industrial experience as a toolmaker/Moulder preferably in the medical/pharmaceutical industry. Previous experience of injection moulding/maintenance/Toolmaking is essential.

The ideal candidate will hold a third level qualification or National Craft Certificate in toolmaking or a similarly skilled craft in the mechanical area together with additional specialised training and experience. The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply a scientific approach to problem-solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximise productivity and yields. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Relevant PC skills, including Solidworks, is a must.
