Our facility in Dun Laoghaire has recently completed a large expansion plan and now produces the majority of pen needles for the diabetes market globally. We are now ramping up to commence producing the newest BD product to support the diabetes market here onsite. With all these exciting developments taking place we are recruiting for a newly created role of an Engineering Technician Moulding-Toolmaker. The Engineering Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, overhaul, adjustment and modification of moulding / production processes and equipment, as well as the fabrication of new and replacement equipment / Spares. The Engineering Technician will also be involved in trouble shooting and continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure smooth operation of the plant.

You responsibilities will include:

  • To install, modify and maintain the full range of moulding & Plant equipment.

  • To continuously improve the moulding & Plant operations. This includes:

  • Specifically fine tuning moulding & Plant equipment to increase output.

  • Reducing downtime and reducing waste.

  • To maintain moulding / Plant lines at optimal performance.

  • To work to the highest engineering standards

  • To deal with all breakdowns within the Plant.

  • To assist in the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging etc.

  • To operate CNC equipment to produce spare parts and support operations

  • To deal/liaise with vendors, suppliers and local engineering shops.

  • To assist with the training of other, Technicians, new recruits and apprentices as required.

  • To fully participate in companywide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable.

  • To maintain appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (e.g., breakdowns, maintenance etc.)

  • Full utilisation of all current and new IT/processing systems e.g., SAP

  • To maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping to ensure area, machines and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition. Correct and/or report unsafe conditions and other faults.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15yrs experience Minimum of 15 years industrial experience preferably in the medical/pharmaceutical industry. Previous experience of injection moulding/maintenance/Toolmaking is essential. The ideal candidate will hold a Third Level Qualification or National Craft Certificate in toolmaking or a similar skilled craft in the mechanical area together with additional specialised training and experience. The ideal candidate will have the ability to apply a scientific approach to problem solving, blending analytical and experimental skills to maximise productivity and yields. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Relevant PC skills, including Solidworks is a must.
