BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Process Engineer in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland

Job Description Summary

We are recruiting a Process Engineer on a 3 year FTC to join our team in Dun Laoghaire to work with vendors and assist in the building of new lines and modification to existing lines.

The Process Engineer will manage the completion of multiple concurrent projects within the development engineering function from concept to completion.

You will;

  • Engage with vendors on the development, design, and evaluation of equipment and/or processes requiring novel and innovative approaches in technology.

  • Develop advanced manufacturing processes using Six Sigma and Lean guidelines to lower product standard cost.

  • Investigate and evaluate existing and/or new technologies and coordinate associated project activities.

  • Liaise with Corporate R&D in the development of new product introduction projects and ensure that project timelines are met.

  • Lead the complete validation of new and existing equipment including acceptance trials, debugging, process development, and final validation.

  • Support any Technology Transfer activities, including planning, execution and ramp of equipment transfers.

  • Undertake Knowledge Transfer activities ensuring adequate training on new equipment and processes enabling a successful validation and ramp.

  • Development and coordination of related documentation, including standard operating procedures, set-up guides, validation documentation and knowledge transfer logs.

  • Support of above activity through multi-week travel assignments.

  • Provide support to operations to optimize existing processes and to ensure that production goals are met.

  • Execute process improvements through identification of problem areas/opportunities and collaboration with internal groups and external vendors.

  • End to end project management for assigned projects including:

  • Develop detailed project plan, tracking project, identifying/managing risks, tracking budget spend and updating plan as required.

  • Stakeholder management and provide regular status updates.

  • Conduct cost benefit and feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality of processes and support project justifications.

  • Creation of detailed project specifications, drawings, procedures, tender documents and where applicable comply with site GMP procedures

  • Design in health, safety and environmental best practice and ensure that all work is completed in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

  • Provide detailed justifications for development projects and subsequently provide management to these projects in terms of leadership, time, costs and reporting.

  • Ensure any Intellectual Property aspects of development are identified and protected in conjunction with the Corporate Legal group.

  • Participate in the site Continuous Improvement Program.

The successful candidate will have a Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree qualification or equivalent qualification and a Project Management qualification will be a distinct advantage.

You will have post qualification experience with at some of this experience within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industry. Other experience that will be required for this role includes:

  • Management of high-speed automation projects.

  • A proven ability to deliver projects from concept through to completion.

  • Must possess good attention to detail and flexibility of approach.

  • Introduction of new products/ technical transfers.

  • To be computer literate to include (but not limited to) all aspects of MS Office, MS Project and Autocad.

  • Effective oral and written communication skill set. Requires proficient presentation and technical writing abilities.
