BD Business Description

Our team of engineers is at the forefront of technology in the combination medical products industry. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be the core team leader for site-related engineering functions and will be responsible for detailed project management, associate development and engineering support for a wide variety of projects. These projects include, but are not limited to, process development, commercialization of new products, changes to raw materials, automation, continuous improvement, and supporting production to ensure the quality and safety of BD products. The manager is also responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of direct reports. In addition, the manager will be responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams and providing regular updates on project status as needed. The AME Manager will directly report to the Associate Director of Product Engineering while also working closely with the El Paso manufacturing plant management team.

Responsibilities

Product Engineering is responsible for developing iterations, modifying, implementing and supporting existing products that function within the product families through adherence to established quality, design control processes and good engineering practices.

What is expected of you for success in your role?

  • Lead cross-functional teams on a variety of high-impact projects

  • Ability to fully scope out, at all levels, the requirements of a given project and provide an implementation plan for execution

  • Creation of project plans and schedules

  • Plans, coordinates and manages all process development and manufacturing activities required to launch or maintain products

  • Lead development of manufacturing methods and processes

  • Participation in process reviews and risk assessments for changes in manufacturing\

  • Assessing plant changes against best practices and BD Quality requirements to ensure reliable manufacturing of products

  • Designing, editing, and reviewing scientific protocols and other documentation to test new concepts, validate processes, qualify products, or commercialize products

  • Provide support to production for business continuity activities

  • Product support for new or transferred molds

  • Provides evaluation and strategy for introductions of new materials

  • IQ/OQ/PQ development and execution, including training support

  • Performance management

  • Responsible for leading and coordinating activities with cross-functional groups

  • Responsible for providing updates to senior management

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining budgets

  • Responsible for coaching and performance management of direct reports

  • Advisor to team members to resolve scheduling, technical or operational challenges

  • Review and approve documentation for language, accuracy and application of best practices

  • Assigns projects and establishes prioritization

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management and BS or MS engineering degree (preferably Mechanical or Biomechanical Engineering)

  • 8+ years of product engineering and/or process engineering-related experience required in medical device or pharmaceutical industry working in a team based environment.

  • Demonstrable experience directly leading technical teams and managing cross-functional project teams

  • Experience with automation process development, both process design and continuous improvement

  • Knowledge of design engineering, DFMA principles, component manufacturing processes, tooling methodologies, material properties

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making and problem solving skills and outstanding interpersonal relationship and people skills.

  • Ability to conceptualize ideas, motivate, and focus individuals and teams to drive projects to completion, both on time and on budget

  • Understanding and ability to execute feasibility and formal validations

  • Deep understanding of GMPs, medical device regulations, pharmaceutical regulations as they apply to manufacturing and product testing

  • Strong potential skills for coaching, developing and guiding associates

  • Prior experience participating in process efficiency improvement technology transfer into base business, or cost reduction projects is highly desired.
