Job Summary:

This position assembles medical devices using torque drivers or screwdrivers to assemble parts of medical devices for use in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. May also be responsible for performing inspection procedures on in-process materials and finished products according to standard procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assembly of plastic, metal, rubber or silicone components of various medical devices.

• Uses hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, files etc., to cut, shape, file, grind, sand, sharpen, deburr and smooth surfaces.

• Works from engineering drawings, sketches, plans, specifications and established assembly instructions to determine sequence of operations, number of parts required, methods and procedures necessary to produce quality product within prescribed time limits.

• Initiates, reviews, follows and updates Standard Operating Procedures related to work area.

• Performs final quality control inspections on all subassemblies/end items prior to packaging for distribution.

• Maintains clean and orderly work environment.

• Supports maintenance activities by reporting equipment breakdowns, malfunctions or need for repair.

• Participates in continuous improvement projects.

• May perform basic maintenance functions including but not limited to: lubrication of moving parts, changing filters and cleaning or replacing parts of machines.

• Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

• Actively participates in FMEA, 5Why, Root Cause Analysis, Continuous Improvement, Kaizen Events and Lean Manufacturing activities.

Job Qualifications:

• High school diploma/ GED is preferred

• 0-2 years’ experience in general manufacturing processes and techniques.

• Knowledge of electrical and electronic circuits, wiring diagrams and schematics.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and schematic diagrams.

• Basic knowledge of computer applications used for word processing, spreadsheets, inventory control, etc.

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

• Must possess mechanical aptitude and ability to understand technical information.

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, climb stairs, reach high and low, crawl, twist, turn and push/pull.

• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
