Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Senior Operations and Supply Chain Manager, the individual will manage the day to day manufacturing activities. This includes managing a large team to meet the requirement of the production plan and overseeing the closure of operational and personnel issues as they arise in line with The BD Way. Responsibility also includes maintaining quality standards, driving improvements, driving efficiencies and driving process optimization in the manufacturing operation. The role requires a knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing methods and tools along with good problem solving skills. Excellent team working and communication skills are essential.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage compliance to procedure among the manufacturing team.

  • Support quality initiatives such as MRR and yield reduction programs.

  • Ensure the long and short-range planning of production schedules are achieved according to the plan and co-ordinate production activities to ensure proper execution of the plan.

  • Develop, manage and review appropriate metrics to highlight and understand issues as they arise.

  • Assist in the development of future operational targets and plans.

  • Review change control and manufacturing deviation activities for appropriateness.

  • Achieve operational and headcount targets per plan to ensure budgetary commitments are met.

  • Work with the planning group to identify short and long term gaps between demand and capacity.

  • Support future budget costing activities.

  • Execute training and development plans for the supervisors and team leader groups.

  • Review training versatility requirements for the manufacturing team and manage appropriately to meet future demand plans

  • Manage personnel issues within the team as required

  • In conjunction with the engineering and R&D teams manage and/or support

  • New product introductions.

  • CIP activities.

  • Capital projects install

  • Consolidate and communicate overall performance.

  • Mentor, develop and motivate Supervisors and Team Leaders to achieve targets / metrics for their respective areas.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to make and present capacity and headcount decisions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Production cost and finance analysis

  • Analyze and optimize existing process and ability to create new processes

  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing and quality systems

  • Ability to create and provide training program to support production needs.

  • Problem solving ability

  • Oral and written presentation skills

  • Ability to work in cross functional teams

  • Six Sigma Knowledge.

  • Understanding of regulatory environment

Education and / or Experience

  • Education: Bachelor of Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical or other related engineering discipline . Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering degree preferred.

  • 3 – 5 years Operations Leadership experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in cross functional teams.

  • Knowledge of cGMP and GLP.

  • Training in Six Sigma or Design for Six Sigma is a plus.
