About the role
Reporting to the Senior Director Global Transportation, the Associate Director Global Transportation and Analytics manages international air, ocean, drayage and parcel freight activities with an annual spend in excess of $300M. We collaborate with regional supply chain and manufacturing partners to develop, implement, and maintain an optimized, reliable, and cost-competitive global transportation network to support the needs of the business.
Main responsibilities will include:
Tactics and operations:
Leads and manages regional transportation teams worldwide to secure freight capacity and on-time international transportation
Supervises daily international air and ocean transportation, advancing potential issues in freight capacity and lead time adherence
Works with regional partners to resolve transportation service challenges, perform network analysis, and provide service solutions
Monitors logistics provider performance against important metrics, established SOPs and service level agreements to ensure compliance
Develops and maintains robust freight spend analytics and reporting capabilities across all modes. Leverages available services, technologies, and digital transformation solutions, i.e., TMS, Control Tower, ML forecast, freight payment and audit systems, etc.
Continuous improvement:
Provides visibility on transportation cost drivers globally to support regional transportation budget development and identification of continuous improvement opportunities on lane routing, air-to-ocean and other critical initiatives
Leads network optimization initiatives with regional partners.
Supplier management:
Manages 4PL solution for all procurement tactical activities in both air and ocean spaces, including monthly to annual bidding activities in alignment with o procurement
Lead periodic rate benchmarking and global bid exercises to ensure global transportation services and rates are competitive with the market
About you
We are looking for a leader with a track record of collaboration with international ocean and heavy air freight operational services with third-party global logistics providers and ocean carriers in a highly matrixed and regulated environment. You bring knowledge of key supply chain, air/ocean transportation processes & current standard methodologies with a willingness to go above and beyond for our customers, delivering outstanding service levels.
Prior Medical Device/Pharmaceutical international transportation operations with understanding of regulations affecting medical devices as well as cold chain distribution experience is preferred. Certification(s) in Six Sigma, APICS and/or Project Management are an asset for the role but not required.
