About the role
The EMEA Transportation Expert manages relations with all transportation partners for road, air & ocean for all flows in- and out of EMEA linked to our distribution centers.(EDC Temse & Olen)
She / he will report to the EMEA Transportation Lead within the Markets Logistics Organization.
Main responsibilities will include:
Carrier Management : manage partnership with key stakeholders in the EMEA Transportation landscape
Carrier Management
Manage partnership with our transportation partners for road, air and ocean. Secure a good connection is in place.
Document carrier SOPs & service agreements
Support road, air and ocean tenders
Support new lane or new service requests
Business Environment
Closely collaborate with the internal partners such as the distribution centers, the EMEA Command Center or the global transportation team
Understand the needs of businesses & countries and translate them into requirements for transportation partners
Be up-to-date on current transportation market and understand how market is going to evolve
Crisis management in case of business threat, incident, or disaster
Communicate and give status updates to stakeholders
Cooperate with stakeholders to find alternative solutions and/or to monitor critical shipments/routes
Continuous Improvement
Drive a structured process of supplier performance review with operational reviews & quarterly business reviews, aligned with the procurement team.
Adjust/adapt the performance review process to make it a valuable process for both parties rather than a ‘check-the-box’ setup
Drive actual continuous improvement driven by quantitative data analyses and qualitative operational/business input
Cost Management
Review and approve/reject spot cost requests
Supporting the budget preparation
Support the actual cost follow up (example: demurrage)
Be an expert on the freight cost approval process
Projects
Participate or drive projects impacting transportation, such as Brexit or implementation of temperature controlled services
Transformation
Digital Transformation
Transportation System Knowledge: you are highly interested to understand current & future transportation related systems allowing you to understand and analyze data
Management of transportation masterdata
As the transportation system environment will drastically change due to a new ERP implementation, you will be a key part of this transformation.
Organizational change
Be a leading partner in the transformation of the Transportation team from an operational (issues resolving) oriented team to a team focussed on relation management and continuous improvement
About you
Bachelor or Master degree
Min 5 years of experience in transportation execution and/or transportation management.
Able to build partnership with key stakeholders – both internal and external - to secure the business
Takes initiative and is capable to work independently
Process minded & structured
Knowledge of transportation management systems and analyses tools
Project management skills inclusive good communication and change management skills
Digital savvy: proven digital skills, high interest in new tools & digitization
