BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Fin Ops COE Inventory Accountant in Erembodegem, Belgium
Job Description Summary
Under the supervision of the Fin Ops COE General Accounting Team Leader operate within the Inventory team, a sub team of a financial cycle in the Finance Operations COE.
Execute accounting and financial activities in the Inventory area in order to maximize the effectiveness of services provided to Europe and EMA Countries.
Discuss process improvement recommendations with the Fin Ops COE General Accounting Team Leader, execute and follow-up on actions to improve internal controls and ensure adherence to policies & procedures.
Main responsibilities / Result areas
Day to day operational tasks
The execution of the financial services assigned to the Inventory team, in order to guarantee quality, efficiency, effectiveness and on time completion of the various tasks and process steps
Assure correctness, on time delivery and sign-off on Inventory operations
Aquilant, service partner for sales to customers (Weekly follow up)
Service contracts for maintaining and repairing products beyond warranty coverage (Weekly follow up)
Weekly follow up SN to be installed (instruments not yet installed) and YYY (outstanding customer returns) for items older than 3 months with Technical Service
Cost of sales reconciliation to detect and explain differences between LOTS (Inventory System) and SAP
Closing task; Service contracts, the calculation and posting of the revenue for the current month
Closing task; Error accounts should net to 0. Check if the movements from LOTS to SAP are correct, if not the incorrect movement has to be reposted to the correct balance sheet account.
Closing task; Calculate and post accruals for the goods which are still in transit
Closing task; Scrap products which will no longer be used for sale
Closing task; Inventory calculations to check which products are outdated (quarterly obsolete)
Blackline reconciliations of the GL accounts (comparison between LOTS and SAP)
Internal & external reporting (SOX, Audit)
Identify non standardized zones and work with team to improve efficiency
Training and development
Discuss with the Fin Ops COE General Accounting Team Leader the need for training and development.
Complete expected C2C courses.
Internal Controls / Quality assurance
Ensure internal & SOX controls are followed in order to guarantee completeness, correctness and security of key financial data and accounting transactions. Follow up on action plans, resulting from audits and/or SOX test results.
Discuss with the Fin Ops COE General Accounting Team Leader possible improvement, standardization opportunities and execute the agreed upon process changes within their own area in order to support a continuous increase in the efficiency of Inventory processes.
1. SLA follow-up and metrics reporting
Ensure SLA’s commitments are followed in order to support both COE and local entities in achieving the objectives of the SLA’s. Contribute directly to the following metrics for Inventory;
Clean error accounts
Participate in project teams to support the implementation of process improvements within their area of responsibility.
Country / Customer
Under the supervision of the Fin Ops COE General Accounting Team Leader ensure the correct inputs and outputs as mentioned by the service level agreements (SLA) are delivered.
Knowledge and selection requirements
Degree Standard Education (Accounting or Equivalent)
Knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS requirements is a plus
Fluency in English; each additional European language is a plus
Knowledge of SAP is a strong Plus.
