Job Description

Position Summary:

BD is looking for our next Health Care Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) leader for EMEA. This position will build, improve and strengthen our HEOR function in the region, and play a crucial role in helping our organisation achieve our key strategic objectives.

The HEOR Leader will develop and execute the HEOR strategy for the region by building and leading a regional Center of Excellence. Through this COE, the HEOR leader will execute HEOR tactics (ex. Tool adaptation, collateral creation) for in-market technologies; as well as field resources responsible for healthcare decision maker (HDM) engagement and insight generation.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop a vision for HEOR in BD and a roadmap for the near and long term. Develop and drive HEOR strategy and key tactics within the EMEA region.

  • Align with Regional Marketing Leadership Team on key priorities, HEOR related marketing considerations and resourcing requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs. Co-author regional evidence strategy with Regional Medical Affairs and Global Business Unit HEOR leaders. Support the development and implementation of strategic partnerships across the region in collaboration with medical affairs.

  • Work with country HEOR leads to understand customer segmentation and value drivers.

  • Support and drive integration of HEOR into new product development activities.

  • Develop and maintain understanding of regional reimbursement or legislative changes and advise senior management on implications as well as opportunities for engagement.

  • Serve as a regionally based scientific resource and work on partnership opportunities that pair key external needs with available BD resources.

  • Secure resources (internal resources, third party vendors, etc.) to execute HEOR projects.

  • Develop team of talent which may include country level HEOR resources and a regional central team.

About you:

We are looking for a HEOR leader with strong experience heading up a HEOR function, ideally at cluster, regional or global level, within either the Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry.

You will be proficient in the technical elements of HEOR, but also possess strong leadership skills and interpersonal capability. Strategic thinking, growth mindset and commercial acumen will be key to success in this position.

The successful candidate will have a documented track record of strategy development and successful work experience within an international, cross-functional, matrix environment.

You will also have:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in clinical/health outcomes research, with 2-3 years of experience as a Field MSL/HEOR/Key Account Management required. Direct experience working with relevant healthcare decision makers including Health Technology Assessment Agencies to deliver evidence strategies that support access and adoption goals

  • Strong technical skills as well as experience delivering enterprise HEOR strategies in multiple markets

  • Excellent leadership and presentation skills, with the ability to balance multiple workstreams simultaneously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to adjust to multiple communication styles.

  • Critical thinking, strategic, and analytical skills and a team approach to problem solving and decision making.

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PharmD, or MD/DO) in related field desirable and experience conducting HEOR research (Related fields include: Health Services Research, Health Economics / Economics, Psychometrics, Health Policy, Outcomes Research, and Pharmacy Administration) MPH, RN, and RPh degrees will also be considered

  • Fluent in English, additional language is a plus
