BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Sr. Manager Transportation Optimization in Four Oaks, North Carolina
Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Director NA Supply Chain CI, the Sr. Manager Transportation Optimization will deliver upon end-to-end supply chain excellence for NA SC. They will also delivery yearly cost-savings commitments via enhance operational efficiency, project execution, deployment of lean methodologies, Global Supply Chain Capabilities (people, processes & systems), NA SC Metrics, PMO, Knowledge management, Communication and coaching and mentoring of NASC associates.
This position will have sphere of influence across NASC staff sites and Transportation/Distribution centers: the Sr. Manager Transportation Optimization will provide leadership to enhance Lean & CI capability through aligning, training, supervising, administrating, coaching, and metric tracking of all NA Transportation activities.
The Sr. Manager Transportation Optimization independently coaches and mentors BD associates, including management, on CI methods, project management and issue resolution. This role also has one direct report.
Responsible for delivering Cost to Win/Cost-to-Deliver cost-savings targets through planning and oversight of Transportation and business Optimization activity.
Drive the deployment of Lean, CI, Project Management and related tools and methodologies throughout the NASC business.
Sustains proper behaviors and holds teams/associates accountable for sustainment of improvements through coaching and leadership.
Collaborating with the business units to optimization supply chain efficiencies while still delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Has global orientation to continuous improvement and optimization
Knowledge and experience in supply chain, transportation, warehousing, project management, and engineering within a medical device environment (preference, but not required)
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with varying SQDCP impact
Ability to lead cross-functional projects with geographically diverse teams
Have a thorough understanding of Continuous Improvement/Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, developing standard processes, writing procedures, mentoring, and training groups of associates
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, logistics, operations management or related degree
Continuous Improvement/Transportation/Supply Chain experience.
10+ years of experience in a business operations, supply chain or manufacturing environment.
3+ years of experience implementing or change or continuous improvement in a manufacturing or business process environment
Six sigma Green Belt/Lean Leader/Supply Chain certification.
Ability to work independently and influence, with and without direct authority, production associates, staff associates, site management, and senior business management.
Additional and Preferred Skills and Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a related discipline
Black Belt certification, preferred
Senior. Lean Coaching Certification preferred
Project Management certification is preferred
Strong analytical skills, communication abilities, and a track record of problem resolution
Knowledge of BDX SAP system.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong project management skills
