Our vision for Medical Affairs at BD

The Medical and Clinical Affairs team provides scientifically sound and medically relevant support to deliver innovative, safe and efficacious solutions for BD customers.

About the role

As Associate Director, Medical Affairs, Surgical BDI you will develop strategic partnerships with scientific, clinical experts and business partners (associations, government, etc.) based on ground breaking clinical/scientific data and information.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide timely feedback/information on emerging clinical/scientific trends and opportunities to internal partners

  • Provide input into the local tactical plans & ensure execution of the plans at local levels.

  • Provide input into and ensure the appropriate execution of relevant regional medical meetings (e.g. advisory boards, symposia, and investigator meetings)

  • Provide innovative insights and make recommendations from local level

  • Work Collaboratively across business teams, Managed Markets, Medical functions, and marketing and sharing best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess their education/research needs.

  • Assist in the identification of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials.

  • Design and lead BD sponsored post market studies, investigator sponsored studies and research collaborations in the area of molecular/ women’s’ health and cancer

  • Ensure the attainment of individual objectives and results that satisfies goals, team and business objectives.

  • Provide customer insights and competitive intelligence that leads to advised business decisions and/or refinement of strategy and/or tactics.

About you

We are looking for experienced leader Advanced Degree (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) and with at least 5 years of clinical experience in medical device industry, with some surgery-specific background.

You will also have:

  • Understanding of the medical device space

  • Influencing skills: Ability to establish rapport, value, and respect internally within a complex and highly technical environment and with KOLs and other influential partners externally

  • Strong business acumen and maturity to lead internal and external relationships

  • Strong personal credibility and integrity, foster a culture of constructive dialogue

  • Team oriented with the confidence, maturity and integrity to lead effectively.

  • Driven to excel and capable of inspiring others to excellence as well

  • Ability to envision a winning future for the organization and help turn that vision into reality through strategic planning plus hands-on action

  • Problem solving skills: Ability to apply business judgment in making decisions. Capable and effective in negotiations

  • Ability to understand legally and technically written standards, regulations, procedures, test methods so as to communicate their intent

  • English language fluency required, multiple languages an asset

  • Management/business experience required to include talent management and budget accountability.
