Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics, the Associate Director for BI and Data Analytics – DataOps serves as the strategic & tactical leader for the management of BD’s business intelligence and data analytics DataOps global practice. This role will lead a team of data analytics professionals in the design, deployment, management and maintenance of data analytics solutions for the BD businesses, functions and regions.

This role will regularly collaborate, and ensure alignment, with our Business Partner organizations to identify, prioritize and deliver business intelligence and data analytics solutions in support of BD’s strategic goals and objectives.

The Associate Director for BI and Data Analytics – DataOps focuses on the movement of data across systems with the primary objective of moving and integrating data from source transactional systems to the data warehouse environment for the purposes of business intelligence reporting and advanced analytics processing.

Successful candidates will have strong knowledge of ERP (SAP, Oracle, etc.) business processes (Finance, Logistics, order to cash, manufacturing, etc.,) and hands-on experience with data integration and troubleshooting capabilities for diagnosing issues and opportunities with integration of data from the transactional systems to data warehouses.

The Associate Director for BI and Data Analytics – DataOps is a hands-on role that works with technical source system owners, Enterprise Application Architects, and the Business Intelligence (BI) Architect to ensure high quality and complete data is delivered on time to the data warehouse environment. This includes accountability for the monitoring of daily data loads through status reports, and ensuring associated data feeds to downstream reporting systems are properly maintained.

In addition, the Associate Director for BI and Data Analytics – DataOps is expected to maintain data integration agile management stories, manage to committed delivery dates and ensure Safe Agile processes are followed during the life cycle of the projects/products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the DataOps organization to enable business value and outcomes;

  • Develop productive relationships and strategic alignment with business partner teams across the organization;

  • Manage application group personnel, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization;

  • Manage all phases of full life-cycle implementation projects, including blueprinting, design, development, testing, UA, deployment, and support;

  • Satisfy the customer through the early and continuous delivery of valuable analytic insights and robust data asset pipelines;

  • Ensure that management reporting and insightful analytics are delivered, incorporating accurate data, atop robust frameworks and systems;

  • Promote diversity of backgrounds and opinions within the DataOps team;

  • Create a team environment to encourage self-reflecting on feedback provided by customers, peers, and operational metrics;

  • Create sustainable and scalable data analytic solutions throughout the implementation and use of Agile and DevOps methodologies;

  • Develop and manage a framework that generates code and configuration which describes the actions taken upon data to deliver data assets and solutions;

  • Focus on process-thinking aimed at achieving continuous efficiencies in the manufacture of data and insights;

  • Develop and enable processes that allow for continuous improvement through structured feedback, error/variation detection, performance measurements, data security evaluations and data quality measures.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

A successful candidate is expected to have an expert understanding of methodologies and techniques utilized for the integration, transformation and presentation of data assets for the purposes of management reporting and analytics. This includes, but is not limited to, technologies such as: HIVE query language, SPARK SQL, Scala, Python,

In addition, the candidate must have experience utilizing Agile and DevOps development methodologies for the implementation of CI/CD data solutions in common cloud base environments (e.g., Azure, AWS):

  • 7+ years of leadership experience in a global Fortune 500 company;

  • 7+ years of experience leading IT application development, business intelligence and infrastructure team, including internal associates and contractors;

  • 5+ years of experience leading global technology implementation and project teams, including project management expertise;

  • 5+ years of experience working with cloud infrastructure services for delivery of global solutions;

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies;

  • 3+ years of experience managing development on data platforms such as: HIVE, SPARK, SQL;

  • Strong data integration and troubleshooting skills/knowledge;

  • Demonstrated experience as a change agent, and the and ability to build relationships / influence others;

  • Experience working with a variety of third party companies and partners to achieve business goals;

  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies;

  • Able to align and connect business strategies with technology solutions;

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills Ability to communicate complex IT challenges in a non-technical and simplified manner to business audience;

  • Functional knowledge (Order to cash, logistics, etc.) of the transactional systems (strong ERP knowledge);

  • Strong Master data and Master data hierarchies knowledge.

Education:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent work experience

  • Advanced degree preferred
