BD is spinning off the Diabetes Care business to promote faster growth for both companies and this critical role will be responsible for shaping and implementing the optimal operational analytics strategy to support the global operations team.
The Diabetes Care business of Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD; NYSE: BDX) is the industry pioneer and leader in the area of diabetes injection devices.
The Diabetes Care business unit has a 90-year history within BD and is unique in that it focuses on one important disease state which is a threat to world health. BD Diabetes Care has an unequalled reach and connection to diabetic patients and has well-established relationships with key diabetes collaborators and influencers worldwide. Our injection devices provide 2/3rd of the worldwide insulin injections, serving our 30+ million global patient base. BD Diabetes Care has demonstrated deep expertise and advanced technologies to continuously innovate their injection portfolio and to design and pursue the development of an infusion product specifically tailored to the needs of type 2 diabetics. Their products are diligently designed to enable people who are living with diabetes and will benefit from comfortable, effective diabetes care.
Following an ongoing strategic review by BD's board of directors, and upon final approval by the Board, BD plans to spin off its Diabetes Care business creating a new publicly traded company (embecta) focused on developing, marketing, and selling products for diabetes treatment. "Embecta" will become one of the largest pureplay diabetes company in the world with a portfolio comprised of insulin syringes, pen needs, sharps containment and other consumable diabetes products and accessories and an R&D pipeline designed to meeting the needs of diabetes patients into the future.
The Associate Director, Operations Analytics provides decision support for key critical initiatives through analytical insights and process. This role will be responsible for evaluating the specific needs of analytics, assess the problems to be solved and what data points to use and apply appropriate analytical methods by analyzing data, generating insights, and developing solutions to create new value and support decision making for the Global Operations Team. The Associate Director, Operations Analytics works in close partnership with the cross functional business leadership team to build and implement the analytics strategy through identifying an implementing best-in-class industry practice. This role will lead the development of custom models and algorithms to uncover signals, patterns, and trends to drive long-term performance and improve efficiency.
The scope of the role encompasses, but is not limited to
Develop, own, and communicate Global Operations metrics.
Ownership of operations analytics across the supply chain.
Create required analytics solutions and data visualizations.
Develop, implement, and maintain capacity models, tools, and processes.
Build forecast models and scenarios to support product initiatives.
Build models to demonstrate total cost from plant to customer.
Provide analysis to assess and mitigate business continuity risks.
The Associate Director, Operations Analytics reports directly to the Director, Operations Strategy.
this role will allow for remote working if within close proximity of a BD facility
Design and define manufacturing and supply chain analytics agenda and needs for embecta.
Understand existing sources of data, design & develop models / tools to integrate them and collaborate with master data management to ensure accurate information.
Integrate manufacturing and supply chain data to extract business insights and inform operations performance improvement.
Support manufacturing and supply chain projects bringing advanced analytics capabilities, performing complex analysis, and building analytics-based tools.
Design Lot Size Optimization models, demonstrating end-to-end value and impact, aligned with business and financial targets.
Integrate and support reporting of performance management analytics (e.g., design dashboards, deploy tools for recurring reporting, deep dive on performance root causes).
Ensures effective long term capacity planning processes are robust and manages WW models for the embecta portfolio, recommending optimal timing for expansion implementation.
Provide senior level analytical support, lead organizational change and implement process optimization across the end-to-end supply chain; linking to global tools and applications to drive improvement in areas such as sales growth, supply lead time, and service level.
10-15 years’ experience in a production, manufacturing, operations, or supply chain management role.
Experience developing and reporting metrics to senior leadership required.
Demonstrated success with complex data management and visualization.
Experience integrating quantitative and qualitative information to draw accurate solutions.
Analytical problem-solver with an eye for detail, who can also effectively communicate how those details fit into the bigger picture to team members and senior leadership across the organization.
Critical thinking and analytical ability to identify creative solutions to complex problems. and have ability to build and understand business case analyses and costing models for new and existing products.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Power Point) – ability to work across all functions and levels in the organization and regions; effectively manage and work with a virtual team; ability to influence without direct control.
Strong change management skills – embraces change; proven change agent with track record of change management successes; able to create and implement change.
Display thorough understanding of competitive benchmarks; ability to continuously challenge processes/procedures based on the latest industry thinking.
Possess a continuous improvement mindset with Lean Six Sigma application.
Highest levels of personal and professional integrity.
Comfortable with shifting priorities, styles, and work environments in an exciting, evolving role.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and function effectively under pressure.
Good command of written and verbal English language.
A Bachelor’s degree is required in engineering or related technical field.
An MBA is preferred
