The Associate Staff R&D Engineer will be a key contributor on R&D team of Catheter care which is focused on Innovation, Product Engineering and Product Development within BD-MDS business. The individual in this position will have an extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. He/She develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

The Associate Staff R&D Engineer will ensure timely completion of project and business goals, and is responsible for planning, designing, building, and qualifying measurement systems and methods necessary to evaluate product safety, efficacy, performance and compliance; creating, leading and executing strategies for design verification and design validation within CC platform.

The candidate will contribute to building organizational effectiveness through creating, leveraging and sharing best practices; leading and mentoring others; seeking and providing training; driving technical and workflow innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Works under general direction.

  • Serve as R&D Lead on product engineering and development initiatives by taking end to end R&D ownership of specific product families of catheter care portfolio

  • Guides the successful completion of major projects and may function in project leadership role.

  • Independently resolves and develops approach to solutions.

  • Acts as an authority / product owner and domain expertise in the field of engineering

  • Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.

  • Supports material/design/process changes to the product line through design control process, with well-documented research/analyses.

  • Demonstrates accountability for successful and accurate completion of designated tasks.

  • Develops technical solutions to complex problems using sound engineering principles, applying experimental, computational and analytical methods.

  • Applies innovative & logical risk based approach to product engineering & development challenges with the capacity for original thinking.

  • Develops robust test methods, design test fixtures and implement measurement system analysis.

  • Ensures compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles.

  • Plans, implements and analyzes design of experiments (DOE) and performs data analysis using statistical tools, regression analyses

  • Writes implements and leads bench studies, tolerance stack up analysis, design verification, validation, vendor interactions, materials specifications and component specifications.

  • Collects, records, reports, interprets and analyses data, presents results to peers and business leadership.

  • Provides sophisticated engineering skills and product evaluation support to the platform toward building business cases for new opportunities.

Education:

  • Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering or related Engineering subject area.

Experience:

  • B.S.: 10+ years of experience in technical area

  • M.S.: 8+ years of experience in technical area

  • Ph.D.: 6+ years of experience in technical area

There are many factors, such as location, that contribute to the range displayed. The salary offered to a successful candidate is based on experience, education, skills, and actual work location. Salary ranges may vary for Field-based and Remote roles.

Salary Range Information

$126,600.00 - $208,900.00
