Job Description Summary # Job Description This contributor is responsible for BD's Global PC and Mac standards and deployment processes. Responsibilities include directing our 3rd party partners on Operating System imaging standards, engineering, designing, testing, and maintaining the build and imaging process for all of BD's managed systems in both test and production. This includes working with other internal teams to coordinate coexistence as well as collaborating with teams outside of the department, such as Security, Asset Management, and Software licensing to ensure all teams are informed and we meet their requirements. This position is responsible for executing Operating System updates, monthly patching/updates, and any one-off requests while managing risks and resolving issues that could impact release scope, schedule, and quality. The expectation is for the contributor to utilize data points from various systems to measure compliance, performance trends, and areas for improvement. This effort will also ensure that updates to computer and imaging standards are compliant with our underlying quality commitments and support our Application ecosystem. The candidate's responsibilities will also include coordinating with the SAP team to ensure any updates to our standards meet their scheduling and compatibility requirements. This role communicates all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, Quality Assurance plans, schedule, and scope changes. In addition, the contributor in this role will collaborate to schedule releases with other related activities. Another requirement in this role is to collaborate with the testing teams (both BD and strategic sourcing partner) to define deliverables for input and output testing strategy. The expectation is the contributor in this role will manage relationships and coordinates work between multiple internal and external teams across the globe. He/she participates in Release Readiness reviews, milestone reviews, and business Go/No-Go reviews as well as produces deployment Run books, implementation plans, and weekly compliance reporting. As BD interacts with multiple 3rd party service providers such as HCL, Capgemini, and Cognizant, organization adjustments (including BD resource realignment and role expansions) are necessary to deliver the optimal outcomes for BD.This role is a key contributor position in the management of service provider outcomes. Scope The Client Engineer role at BD is include but are not limited to: + Managing internal and external teams to ensure all established timelines are met using established processes and procedures + Engineer and support all aspects of the PC and MAC deployment process and manage Mac integration with Enterprise class support utilities + Manage Global responsibilities related to the legacy BARD integration activities - ensuring that the PCs and sites are aligned with our standards and build processes as well as ensuring the updated Windows 10 build continues to meet expectations for all of our customers + Provides key contributions within Information Security, testing endpoint agents to ensure compatibility with current and future builds. Provides key input as to timing and order of security upgrades among other responsibilities + Responsible for providing support for 3rd tier troubleshooting for client computing issues and endpoint security related issues as requested. + Partner with Senior leaders within Infrastructure as well as other departments such as Security and Procurement to collaborate on decisions to ensure awareness and compliance of our workstreams as they relate to other efforts + Drive unit, integration, regression, and performance testing to support the computing lifecycle management process + Verify adherence to Service Level Agreements, note breaches, and accommodate exceptions + Responsible for the documentation related to computing and imaging standards Time and Resource Management This role manages an indirect team of resources at both HCL and Capgemini. An expectation is this space is the management of delivery of support and work efforts from BD’s strategic operations sourcing partners. Our partners do not name a specific amount of team members involved to deliver on SLAs and work items but there are typically over 10 on-shore and off-shore resources within the scope of this Client Engineering domain. Results Impact (Financial, Quality, Outcomes) Support requirements of this role: + As SAP is one of our most business critical applications to support - not only through the SAP GUI but also through the portal, the quality of our defined hardware and Operating Systems standards supports users being able to execute their respective role responsibilities within the SAP system. + Quality: Testing and quality assurance as new standards make their way out into the organization via a controlled test, pilot, and production release cycle. Ensures unit, integration, regression, and performance testing take place to make sure changes do not impact the business adversely.
