  • Participate in the leadership of the global tax team by developing a best-in class tax function

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive tax planning strategy for embecta to optimize its effective tax rate, manage tax exposures and controversy risks

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key individuals across Finance, Business Development, and Business Unit to ensure tax is at the forefront of business decisions and any tax risks associated with operational changes are proactively managed/mitigated

  • Review proposed transactions, including M&A, in their formative stages and advise or propose changes to achieve optimal tax results

  • Maintain a deep understanding of various entities, transaction flows, risks, and functions, and advise on the various intercompany transactions, relationships, and agreements

  • Define the optimal capital structure for each relevant legal entity and partner with Treasury for cash movement via repatriation or lending

  • Advise on tax withholding and information reporting requirements

  • Monitor, analyze, advise and effectively communicate to stakeholders on proposed and enacted U.S. federal and state and local and international tax legislative and regulatory changes, including OECD initiatives, their implications and provide strategic tax planning direction

  • Continuously challenge the status quo and generate and test new ideas for tax planning

  • Strategize, develop and maintain the group’s transfer pricing policies and implement appropriate processes for intercompany pricing and appropriate documentation

  • Coordinate with tax reporting and compliance leader to ensure the proper reporting of operational aspects and completed transactions that occur throughout the year

  • Responsible for application of ASC740 (e.g., uncertain tax positions) for all planning strategy

  • Manage and/or support all U.S. and non-US tax audits with the IRS, state and local, and foreign legislative and administrative authorities

  • Organize and supervises the preparation and prosecution of ruling requests, tax credits (e.g., R&D), refund claims, protests and administrative appeals relating to tax matters

  • Monitor and maintain tax rulings and holidays requirements

  • Support in developing greater central visibility and control over the embecta’s global tax planning processes

  • Support the embecta’s development of shared service center capabilities as they relate to tax planning

  • Support all aspects of global quarterly and annual financial reporting for income taxes including income tax footnote and disclosures as needed for tax planning

  • Develop and maintain process flows and the applicable internal controls as required by Sarbanes Oxley 404 for tax planning function.

  • Interact directly and handle discussions with external auditors and tax/legal advisors as needed

  • Assist tax compliance team as needed in the preparation of all US federal, state and local tax filing/compliance activities as relevant to tax planning.

  • Advise on indirect tax matters as needed including sales & use taxes and VAT

  • Manage and/or assist overseas tax notices and global tax audit examinations for the effective & efficient management of tax controversies

  • Determine effective tax rate impact from tax planning initiatives

  • Develop a strong working relationship with internal stakeholders and external advisors

  • Liaise and collaborate closely with tax functional and other cross-functional teams to ensure planning appropriately reflected in the reporting systems

  • Develop and maintain the company's transfer pricing policies and address the adequacy of transfer pricing analysis and contemporaneous documentation including operationalizing such policies

  • Advising on the global tax strategy, including effective tax rate planning, IP ownership, tax effective supply chain management, transfer pricing arrangements

  • Working closely with legal, finance, business development and operations personnel. Will need to communicate regularly with high-level executives

  • Advising on, and leading, acquisitions, dispositions, partnerships and internal corporate restructurings worldwide, including: conducting and/or coordinating with advisors on tax due diligence; ensuring tax efficient transaction structuring; drafting, reviewing and/or commenting on transaction documents; providing tax input to financial models; working as part of integrated team including legal, business affairs, finance and operations and ensuring all alternatives, issues and risks from a tax perspective are fully analyzed; and contemporaneously documenting tax consequences of concluded transactions for tax reporting purposes

  • Monitor, analyze and advise on proposed and enacted tax legislative and regulatory changes, including US and non-US government and NGO such as the OECD

  • Coordinating with tax compliance team to ensure the proper reporting of completed transactions that occur throughout the year

  • Address US tax audit issues and supporting foreign finance teams on foreign audits.

  • Ability to model and illustrate the tax impacts of proposed legislation, competing structuring and/or deal alternatives

  • Must be able to prioritize, work independently and communicate effectively with tax and business colleagues, both domestically and abroad.

  • Must be able to initiate, manage and complete complex projects with little or no supervision.


  • 15+ years of tax and leadership experience, highly preferably in a mix of public accounting and multinational corporate environment

  • Experience with legal tax structures for corporations and partnerships

  • Expertise for new and emerging tax issues, both domestically and internationally

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and business correspondence is essential.

  • Must demonstrate a conceptual and business-oriented approach to communicating taxes and tax planning, and be able to effectively communicate with and influence non-tax business leaders

  • Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements, including the use of new tax technology and automation tools

  • Require strong skills in strategic planning, decision making, analysis, and use of judgment

  • Requires the ability to teach, coach, and develop staff and key stakeholders

  • Extensive knowledge of US tax rules particularly in international arena (e.g., Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, etc) and good working knowledge of foreign jurisdiction tax rules

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; JD/MS in Taxation strongly preferred

  • Experience with indirect taxes (i.e. sales and use, VAT) preferred

  • Must be able to work with all levels of management, staff, consultants, attorneys, and taxing authorities

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Excellent skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • A strong work ethic and passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with ability to roll-up sleeves and dig into the details

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
