Job Description SummaryUnder the general direction of the MDS Continuous Improvement WW Manufacturing Director, this position will be a leader in the execution of the Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) Continuous Improvement strategy.

THIS POSITION CAN SIT ON LOCATION AT ANY MANUFACTURING PLANT IN THE US, MEXICO OR EUROPE. POSITION WILL REQUIRE UP TO 25% DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL.

The Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) Continuous Improvement program is built up through several key programs to achieve 3.0% to 3.5% in annual CI cost savings, quality improvements and improved output while building the CI culture in the MDS sites. The CI savings are one part of the MDS CTW (Change To Win) initiative to deliver in excess of 6% in annual cost savings. Programs include:

  • Bard Synergy

  • Zero Loss

  • Process optimization

  • The Cost of Quality program (waste reduction) to improve our process quality and eliminate key quality issues

  • Internal Benchmarking programs across MDS and other BD businesses

  • MRO savings programs, Local PPV programs, MTN programs and other programs that leverage the MDS Network to improve cost, quality and output in our plants.

As a leader in the Continuous Improvement program for MDS, this associate will execute the MDS strategy to develop three year cost savings plans, support the BARD Synergy cost savings efforts, develop three year strategic roadmaps towards the BDPS (BD Production System) mission, assure the sites improve and maintain the Lean programs, 6 Sigma programs, Kaizen Action Sheet programs, have effective blitzes throughout the year and have effective training. This Leader will work with our sites to assure we have the certified leaders and practitioners in place in Lean and Six Sigma to effectively optimize our plant operations.

This person will work with all MDS sites and the site CI Leaders to improve our operations through execution of new ideas and sharing of best practices across the MDS Network.

STRATEGIC IMPACT / ACCOUNTABILITY

This person will support the MDS focus to implement, communicate and improve our CI Maturity Assessment Scorecard each year (CI Culture). Includes management of monthly CI Scorecard updates

Preparation and active participation in the site review process:

  • Work with sites to develop three year plans to assure we have a strategy and effective pipeline of CI projects to meet our goals. Use VSM as a primary tool

  • Assist with CI Assessments (20 keys)

  • Develop baseline data for each site (staffing, training, product lines, quality issues, etc.)

  • Look for opportunities from compilation of projects and baseline data from other sites that can be applied (including Budgeted projects)

  • Review and provide direction to plants to assure implementation of CI initiatives

  • Actively coach, develop, and mentor new or less-experienced plant CI leaders

  • Lead monthly virtual meetings with all MDS sites (Networking to share results, opportunities and best practices)

This position may be called upon to lead key blitzes and find opportunities for sites when they are in adverse situations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Business (Engineering or Business Degree with Masters Degree or equivalent experience highly desirable).

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma experience required

  • 8 to 10 years broad exposure to all aspects of plant operations with emphasis on CI, plant operations leadership, or integration.

  • Must be a proven change leader across a significant organization

  • At least 4 year experience in managing people and applying sound concepts, financial analyses, and communicating to management.
