Summary:

Reporting to Associate Director of Marketing, Injection Systems, the Marketing Manager, Injection Systems will be accountable for and helping to lead the $440M US business. As part of the BD Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) US Region Marketing and Commercial Excellence organization this position will lead critical marketing efforts for the Injection Systems Platform (IJS) in the US Region.

The individual will be responsible for championing IJS business spanning all aspects of commercial marketing. As a high-contributing team member this role provides significant input into product line-related business decisions and resource planning; plays a critical role in key projects/ initiatives, often leading project/ initiative teams.

The individual should demonstrate marketing and commercial business management acumen through a specific set of skills and working knowledge. Expectation is that Marketing Manager has the ability to demonstrate strong learning agility and rapidly elevate from basic to proficient at the following competencies: product and portfolio knowledge and management, business and financial acumen, commercialization excellence, customer insights and analytics, marketing communications, marketing planning and execution, brand strategy, market development, financial projection, supply and demand forecasting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and manages all aspects of marketing plans for assigned products and initiatives to ensure the achievement of financial/ budget expectations and product line strategies, including market sensing, market development and marketing mix.

  • Utilizes marketing tools and methodologies, develop and execute marketing strategies in existing, developing and new market segments to achieve and exceed growth expectations in dollars, units and gross profitability targets.

  • Develop, and utilize market analyses and market research where necessary, and evaluate results to optimize the marketing planning process.

  • Manages drivers of demand for assigned product line(s) such as pricing strategy, channel strategy, contracting, and product mix.

  • Evaluates US competitive landscape and develops/ refines current product line strategy and go-to market elements to accelerate growth and product category share gains on quarterly and annual basis.

  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, projections and necessary reports complete and on time to the relevant personnel.

  • US Region Tracking, monitoring and reporting in a cohesive and articulate manner account wins, losses and pricing adjustments -- and synthesis of opportunities and risks.

  • Synergistic alignment with customer facing functions including, but not limited to: US Region sales, customer service, SCG Health Systems, Channel Management and aligns with, and where required establishes relationships with Contracting Entities/ GPOs, Channel Partners/ Distributors, Sales and other pertinent customers and partners to drive growth.

  • Leadership and progression of US target opportunities: specific deliverables include development and successful implementation of strategies to sustain and convert major IDN/ GPO business to BD. Further, work closely and lead as appropriate strategy for Management Approval Matrix (MAM) and Deal Works for pricing, contracting, incentives and other economic levers in conjunction with US Region Business Unit Leadership, Commercial Integration and Sales Leadership.

  • Support US Region sales team for opportunity progression and conversion management: ensure sales team have the support, tools and resources from the Platform to enable rapid conversion of major ongoing wins as well as defense against competitive activities.

  • Supports training for new hires and refresher training courses on product category as required by Sales Training and Development.

  • Participates as a Marketing Core Team Member on cross-platform technical teams, delivering the marketing leadership and support needed to the relevant projects.

  • Works constructively with internal functions including regulatory affairs, medical affairs, quality, finance, and WW Platform leadership.

  • Acts as the Marketing Core Team Member or Extended Team Member on key project teams. These projects will span from sustaining engineering projects, continuous improvement projects through to new product launches and product/ business development opportunities as appropriate.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with US based thought leaders and medical societies as required to stay updated on current and emerging trends in clinical practices, market and competitive trends.

  • Trade show and convention planning, strategy development and coordination for the IJS business.

  • Ensure that all activities are consistent with the BD core values and comply with relevant acts, legal demands, and regulatory and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Business Administration or Marketing preferred - MBA or Masters is preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years of business experience in the life science or medical device industry.

  • Minimum of 2 years in product, market management or sales. Business experience may include marketing, sales, sales training, business development.

  • Strong knowledge of working in a B2B environment; understanding of healthcare industry

  • Demonstrated experience with business process and behavior/ culture changes.

  • Proven ability to work with diverse cross functional teams and drive positive results; exposure to cross-functional processes/ requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with executive audiences, middle management, individual contributors, sales personnel, and external customers.

  • Embraces and competently displays sales support, customer focus, drive for results, continuous and versatile learning, action oriented, emotional intelligence, stakeholder alignment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment with little supervision. Resourcefulness and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities are key.

  • Experience in identifying Market Opportunities, Market Segmentation, Targeted Marketing, Competitive Analysis, Pricing Strategy and Go to Market models and strategies.

  • Flexibility to travel domestically and to customer sites at least 30% of the time.
