The Privacy Analyst U.S. will report to the Corporate Privacy Officer and will serve a critical role in BD’s Privacy Compliance Program. The role will be responsible to assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective compliance program to help ensure compliance with BD privacy policies and procedures and the various privacy laws applicable to a major global medical device manufacturer, with a particular focus on U.S. laws related to the protection of patient health information such as HIPAA and similar state laws.

This posiiton can be based in either Vernon Hills, Chicago or Franklin Lakes, NJ

The successful candidate will be an important part of the Privacy function. S/he will have the opportunity to make an immediate contribution to BD’s continuing growth and success. The person sought for this role will be a proven candidate with strong intellectual and technical skills. Relationship building will be a key requirement for success in this role.

  • Identify privacy issues, implement, and maintain the Privacy Program

  • Administer the process for documenting, tracking, and investigating privacy incidents; assist with notifications to regulators or individuals as needed

  • Coordinate the National Data Privacy Coordinators globally

  • Assist in the performance of Privacy assessments

  • Coordinate efforts to advance the Privacy annual work plan, foster privacy awareness, and maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws

  • Monitor policies and procedures to align with state and federal regulations including HIPAA and HITECH

  • Monitor and maintain Privacy Office mailbox including opt-out requests, SharePoint sites and websites

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Undergraduate or professional degree in related specialty preferred)

  • At least 5 years of experience in a healthcare privacy compliance role, or equivalent experience with strong focus on HIPAA and consumer data; GDPR experience a strong plus

  • CIPP certification strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated organization, leadership and management skills

  • Conducts business with a professional, collaborative approach that is proactive, solution oriented and forward thinking

  • Exceptional communication, critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and resourcefulness
