BD is seeking an individual who has experience in creating and launching products in a compliant but efficient and effective manner using lean and digital processes. This engineer needs to be able to continue this journey and be comfortable driving cultural change through process behavior and be hands-on to ensure success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and implement modern, end-to-end processes and tools that empower teams and facilitate a streamlined user experience for product development teams developing different types of products around the globe
Develop compliant but lean product development processes and procedures, implemented with software tools, focusing on Design Control, Risk Management and Change Control.
Support configuration and implementation of product development software tools, including ongoing support of the tools
Support the creation and updates of processes and tools to enable associates to do their job well within the core system
Implement organizational change by creating and providing training with regard to process behaviors and cultural change. Guide associate shift in mindset by shepherding, engaging, partnering and collaborating with them through the process.
Support assessing the health and effectiveness of the process by analyzing metrics and data that drives best practices
Provide leadership and influence across functions such as R&D, QA, RA, Ops, Med Affairs to ensure specific process metrics are met.
Proven understanding of processes and regulatory developments with other BD organizations and external partners, as appropriate, in order to demonstrate best-in-class technologies, solutions, methods and capabilities.
Complete process design and implementation plans; demonstrate strong accountability for successful completion of programs with successful user uptake.
Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices as well as with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures
Successfully communicate program status to senior management.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a consistent track record of product development project execution in the medical device industry with a minimum of ten years of experience.
The candidate must have solid product development experience developing and employing modern, agile, lean product development methodologies and cross-functional work processes across large multi-disciplinary teams. Background in Software Development Lifecycle execution is a plus.
Will build strong partnerships and rapport at all levels of the organization within the R&D, Quality and Operations and Regulatory functions. The candidate will have earned an undergraduate degree, preferably in engineering. An advanced degree will be advantageous.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Deep knowledge and practical experience in the use of Medical Device Design Control regulations (CFR 820.30, ISO 13485 / EU MDR; etc;) and best practices
Practical experience with streamlined and customer-centric implementation of Medical Device Design and Development best practices, Risk Management, Change Control and Verification & Validation (V&V)
Experience in facilitating groups to analyze, characterize and optimize processes
Demonstrated ability to build cross functional relationships
Demonstrated ability to provide training in an on-site or virtual setting
Exceptional written and oral communication skills required
Strong background of use of Lean Engineering principles and practices
Experience in organizational change
Ability to lead multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Productive with a focus on results
Proven positive work ethic with a strong commitment to achieving project goals
EDUCATION
An Undergraduate degree in an engineering field is required; an MBA is desirable.
BS degree in Engineering discipline, MS/MBA preferred
10+ years of Engineering experience in Medical Devices or regulated industry
