Reporting to the Director of Program Management, this role will be supporting the New Ventures team within MDS. This cross functional role will be responsible for leading and motivating a complex cross functional team or a program with one or more projects to define and develop a product(s). This Leader will define the program architecture and drive successful project / program execution globally. The Program Manager will utilize BD’s stage gate framework (GPDS) Global Product Development System and Program Management to deliver projects/programs on-time, at cost to realize the commercial potential of released products.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, articulate, and drive the cross-functional strategy including project timelines, risk mitigation plans, financial plans.

  • Lead a cross-functional team (R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality, Regulatory and Medical affairs) in the creation of a comprehensive program development plan consistent with 21CFR820 guidelines and ISO 13485 standards.

  • Responsible for the creation of project work breakdown structures, risk management, integrated business plans and product requirements. Leads the cross functional development of product architecture for each functional area, synthesizes functional plans and identifies critical interdependencies to drive successful execution of the project.

  • Exercise technical/business skills and judgment to significantly influence the overall direction of the project.

  • Demonstrate leadership, learning agility and bias-for-action when facing uncertainty and instill confidence through leadership and actions.

  • Interacts with functional managers and business leaders to communicate critical project risks, challenges, and their mitigation plans.

  • Engages core team members, functional leaders and business leaders in their strategies and approaches to improve product development outcomes.

  • Influences solutions to business and technical problems in an inclusive manner while pushing for expedient, compliant solutions.

  • Communicates and implements the strategic and technical direction for the project/program team.

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of business & market growth drivers & trends, influences business case development

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, Computer Science/Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related engineering degree is required. An advanced degree in engineering or business is preferred.

  • At least 10 years relevant experience in product development and design with at least 5 years product development and/or program management experience in medical devices/products is required.

  • Demonstrated understanding and depth in the application of project management principles, theories & concepts

  • Minimum 5-8 years of project management experience with emphasis on Software Programs. Demonstrated experience in SDLC preferred.

  • Successful track record of commercializing new products from idea to launch is required.

  • Demonstrated experience in new product development planning across multiple work-streams, identifying risk and implementing risk-mitigation plans to optimize timelines and improve predictability is required.

  • Demonstrated experience in clear, concise communication while dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty is required.
