BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Senior Consolidations Accountant in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey
Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Consolidations Manager in the Corporate Controller’s Group, this Senior Consolidations Accountant is responsible for the consolidation and preparation of worldwide consolidated financial statements for all reporting cycles including monthly actuals, annual budget, quarterly projections, and the three year strategic plan.
Responsibilities and expectations include:
Responsible for the consolidation and preparation of consolidated worldwide financial statements (P&L Focus), which includes consolidation entries, account analyses and preparation of supporting schedules and financial calculations for all reporting cycles.
Receive widespread exposure to virtually all facets of the corporate reporting process.
Provide support for the company’s Annual Report (financial statements, footnotes, financial summaries, graphs, MD&A, etc.) and SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy).
Interface with various levels of management, including the tax and treasury departments, discussing accounting issues and providing background information on transactions.
Interface with External/Internal Auditors in planning and reviewing year-end and interim audit requirements to ensure all consolidated financial statements are in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Collaborate with the tax department on any legal entity restructuring activities (transfers, liquidations and mergers) and issue the appropriate US GAAP accounting guidance to impacted affiliates.
Support and assist with business acquisition integration including providing accounting guidance and system reporting requirements.
Interface with the U.S. Census Bureau to complete and submit government surveys.
Provide assistance to regional and business finance colleagues as needed to ensure financial data is submitted accurately and timely.
Identify and implement process improvements within the Corporate Controller’s Group.
Serve as a super user for the Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) System and SAP (BPC).
Perform special projects for management on an as needed basis.
B.S. degree in accounting or finance required.
CPACertification, orCPA candidates who have passed parts of their certification required.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in public accounting and/or private industry with exposure to general accounting and consolidations required.
Must possess a reasonably high level of accounting and analytical expertise. The ability to develop relationships with associates from other functions, businesses and regions will be essential in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
Candidate must have good interpersonal/ communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work both as a member of a team and independently to accomplish responsibilities. Strong multi-tasking abilities. Strong analytical skills for review and interpretation of data.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
HFM, SAP and BPC experience desired.
