The Diabetes Care business of Becton, Dickinson and company is the industry pioneer and leader in diabetes injection devices. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and responsible for all aspects of tax reporting and compliance for US Federal, State, and International tax matters in the following areas:

  • ASC 740 (U.S. GAAP) tax provision preparation/review on a quarterly and annual basis, including FIN18, FIN48 and tax account reconciliations for a US public company

  • Manage and review the Global effective tax rate, and all SEC tax footnote and disclosure requirements

  • Manage and review of the US Federal, State, and Foreign tax return filings

  • In-depth understanding and ability to model/analyze all facets of international taxation, such as BEAT/FDII/GILTI/Subpart-f for tax planning and associated tax reporting/compliance

  • Own all aspects of data gathering, analytics, and documentation support for transfer pricing and audit functions

  • Participate in the leadership of the global tax team by developing a best-in class tax function

  • Assess and strengthen the processes to support embecta’s Corporate income tax, tax provision, tax planning and tax controversy processes around the world to ensure appropriate reporting and compliance during and after the transition services period

  • Enable more standardization and the opportunity for continual improvement over embecta’s global tax processes including active engagement in tax requirements for development of embecta’s ERP and reporting systems

  • Support in developing greater central visibility and control over the embecta’s global tax processes

  • Support the embecta’s development of shared service center capabilities as they relate to tax obligations

  • Develop and maintain process flows and the applicable internal controls as required by Sarbanes Oxley 404 for financial reporting and income tax accounts.

  • Interact directly and handle discussions with external auditors and tax/legal advisors

  • Provide critical tax accounting support on embecta’s strategic initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and capital deployment.

  • Assess and oversee tax impact of tax controversies/UTPs and related interest and support recognition and measurement of various tax positions

  • Manage all US federal, state and local tax filing/compliance activities, including estimated tax payments and extensions.

  • Coordinate and manage the preparation of non-US income tax returns by internal stakeholders or external service providers.

  • Manage indirect tax and transaction tax compliance in applicable jurisdictions including sales tax, and VAT.

  • Maintain global tax calendar and ensure that all tax filing requirements are in accordance with taxing regulations around the globe.

  • Maintain and update internal reporting processes used to organize financial data from the general ledger and accounting systems into formats required for completing foreign and domestic income tax provisions and tax returns, including indirect tax returns.

  • Establish and maintain tax risk management policies.

  • Manage global cash tax forecasts.

  • Manage or oversea tax notices and global tax audit examinations for the effective & efficient management of tax controversies

  • Determine effective tax rate impact from tax planning initiatives

  • Monitor and analyze tax regulatory and compliance developments and tax law changes for impacts to the embecta’s effective tax rates, tax reporting and compliance

  • Develop a strong working relationship with internal stakeholders and external advisors

  • Liaise and collaborate closely with tax functional and other cross-functional teams to ensure tax planning is appropriately reflected in the tax provision and tax returns

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 15+ years of tax and leadership experience, highly preferably in a mix of public accounting and multinational corporate environment

  • Extensive knowledge of US GAAP accounting concepts and principles (particularly ASC 740 and SOX 404 internal controls) is essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required; MBA/MS in Taxation strongly preferred

  • Strong and broad-based US, state and local and US international tax compliance skills and experience, including recent US tax reforms

  • Experience with US indirect and non-income taxes (i.e. sales and use) preferred

  • Experience in managing and administering federal, state and local tax exams / audits

  • Strong skills in strategic planning, decision making, analysis, and use of judgment

  • Requires the ability to teach, coach, and develop staff and key stakeholders

  • Must be able to work with all levels of management, staff, consultants, attorneys, and taxing authorities

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Experience in tax technology, including visualization tools, and tax compliance software (E.g., Corptax, OneSource, HFM, SAP, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI etc.) and excellent skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

  • A strong work ethic and passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with ability to roll-up sleeves and dig into the details

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously

  • Executive presenece with excellent analytical skills, written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to clearly convey tax concepts to senior management & global audiences

  • Ability to understand and communicate complex tax matters to internal and external stakeholders.

  • High level comfort and experience in dealing with senior management.

  • Ability to possess strong business acumen
