Job Description SummaryBD is searching for a dynamic Senior Director, R&D, Packaging, Graphics & Labeling (PGL) to lead a newly formed R&D PGL Center of Excellence organization, serving a broad portfolio of businesses and platforms across BD.
As an organizational and technical leader, the new Senior Director will establish a world-class team and corresponding infrastructure to support a worldwide manufacturing network and product portfolio. The ideal candidate will establish, lead, and develop a large, talented, global technical team; employ good governance, prioritization, and project management practices; champion creation and adoption of harmonized tools and practices; and drive continuous innovation and technical development. This essential role will directly contribute to sustainable growth for a global portfolio of medical devices, in vitro diagnostics, and research products that improve medical discovery, diagnostics, and delivery of care.
The Senior Director will be accountable to R&D leaders from served businesses. Important partnerships with commercial teams will be essential to ensure a culture of customer-centric innovation and continuous improvement. This leader will collaborate with teams and leaders from R&D, Operations (including Category Management), Quality, Regulatory, and Medical. With respect to Packaging, the Senior Director will be expected to develop individuals and teams to deliver excellence in Packaging Systems & Design Engineering; Packaging and Print Technologies; and Verification & Validation (V&V).
The successful candidate will ensure delivery of packaging and labeling to drive sustainable growth for a global portfolio of medical and research products. The Senior Director will build an organization that is knowledgeable and agile, enabling maximum flexibility in resourcing and responsiveness to the needs of our large and complex enterprise. Strength in solving technical, organizational, and cultural challenges is essential. The successful candidate will have a long track record of delivering products and solutions to market, and identifying and developing technical talent.
Create and develop a worldwide, industry-leading Packaging, Graphics & Labeling Center of Excellence (PGL CoE) that delivers a full portfolio of product development projects and programs.
Educate and influence stakeholders across the enterprise with respect to specific PGL capabilities, value, and points of focus.
Drive transparent project portfolio governance and execution, and ensure adequate staffing, capabilities, collaboration, and expertise. Ensure projects/milestones are completed on schedule.
Provide functional, operational, and executional leadership to the PGL CoE organization. Deliver exceptional results through an empowered organization who demonstrate a commitment to excellence and exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
Ensure customer centricity in everything we do and promote application- and workflow-focused innovation and best practices.
Be accountable for overall PGL budgeting and spend, including tradeoffs, returns on investments, and operational efficiencies. Proactively manage the expense budget from planning through implementation, including annual strategic planning, annual budgeting, and quarterly projections.
Recruit, acquire, develop, mentor, motivate, and evaluate associates, with an emphasis on building individuals and creating organizational depth. Actively coach and develop associates to develop a strong and deep talent bench.
Develop subject matter experts and industry leaders who will lead standards committees and influence public policies and regulations
Ensure compliance throughout the PGL CoE with company policies and procedures. Ensure skilled audit support and auditor interface on packaging and labeling subject matter as required.
