Job Description Summary

BD is a fortune 100 company with over 70,000 team members. The software needs for the company are plentiful and an organized software portfolio and renewals manager is needed. The software portfolio manager duties include management and oversight of a portfolio of major software vendors as well as creating a strategy and roadmap for the hundreds of annual software renewals.

The software portfolio and renewals manager will liaise with BD infrastructure, applications, service integration and management, and finance teams in order to properly manage the performance of our strategic IT suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day contracts and ensure renewals are completed on time, year-to-year cost savings, optimizing the software subscription and support revenue, protecting, and reducing spend with BD.

  • Analyze and monitor performance.

  • Produce monthly dashboards and reports to show progress and risk areas.

  • Responsible for renewing Software Subscription and Support for software licenses before the contract renewal dates.

  • Manage NDAs, Contract, SOWs, and software maintenance renewals with vendors.

  • Optimizing renewal opportunities to achieve the Monthly, Quarterly & Yearly cost saving targets are met.

  • Work with BD TGS Platform Owners and Business technical managers to determine opportunities to right size license pools to lower cost.

  • Responsible for changeout methodology standardization, request and reporting for cost distributions for business partners.

  • Build a software renewal strategy which includes best practices, integration, and processes to minimize and optimize spend.

  • Successfully close each month’s renewals for the designated territory, including regular reconciliation of customer entitlements per renewal and accurately reflecting expected forecasting cost savings amounts.

  • Produce monthly dashboards to show progress and escalations.

  • Take on software/vendor related projects.

  • Escalate issues timely that threaten portfolio and project success.

  • Communicate with vendor partners about their performance.

  • Drive standardization across vendor contracts.

  • Align with other portfolio managers to determine if there are duplicates of capabilities and recommend resolutions.

  • Manage and minimize risk of assigned portfolio.

  • Partner with business partners, regions, procurement & data teams to maintain up-to-date and complete performance data for portfolio reviews.

  • Attend industry conferences and participate on panels to facilitate information flow, individual growth and understand other F500 best practices.

  • Work with all stakeholders to ensure contract compliance feedback is included in QBR, annual and renewal feedback.

  • Manage FTE’s and vendors.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relationship management and project management experience.

  • Generalist mindset with strong analytical skills and ability to act in an entrepreneurial setting decisively, yet in a disciplined manner.

  • Familiar with ITIL Foundation Methodology and ServiceNow.

  • Request module to support Software request processes.

  • Ability to influence and break down silos within an organization as well across organizations.

  • Ability to understand the mapping of organizational vision and contribute ideas.

  • Ability to communicate complex contracts in a simplified manner.

  • Ability to influence partners/team members in written and oral communications.

  • Ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methods.

  • Highly collaborative work style which includes working optimally across all organizational levels.

  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization and in overcoming ambiguity.

  • Leading by example, mentoring, and inspiring others all around you.

  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Power BI experience is a plus.

  • Good judgment and decision-making.

  • Able to align and work with diverse global stakeholders.

  • Strong humility, listening, creativity, and negotiation skills.

  • Accept ownership and drive change.

  • Personal integrity and an ability to maintain confidentiality of company and client information.
