BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Sr. Manager - North America Inbound Transportation in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey
Job Description Summary
Responsible for creating the North America Inbound Transportation strategy and associated operational plans to achieve defined objectives focused on driving efficiencies, predictability, and reliability on inventory movements/shipments into our distribution centers, sterilizers, and plants. Develops, implements, and monitors processes and capabilities including the use of BD Control Tower to monitor effectiveness of inbound operations while proactively mitigating service issues. Continually evolves transportation inbound plans to meet business, functional and customer requirements. Partners with businesses and all elements of ISC in a balanced approach between service and cost to meet objectives. Position enables inventory flow to meet inventory, revenue, back-order, OTIF and overall Cost to Serve objectives. North America regional in-bound transportation spend of $100M.
Develops the inbound transportation strategy for North America
Creates, executes, and supervises operating plans in support of the strategy
Supports procurement in developing contractual and operational requirements, selecting carriers/suppliers and holding them accountable for meeting service level agreements via day-to-day communications and via participating in regularly scheduled business reviews
Develops processes within BD Control Tower and/or other means to actively monitor effectiveness of operating plans while proactively identifying risk to mitigate and/or opportunities to capitalize upon
Partners with Plants, Sterilizers, Distribution centers and Carriers to define and implement inbound transportation solutions
Accountable for inbound performance including the development of appropriate KPI’s around cost and service
Key point of entry for business units and ISC as it pertains to North America product source changes and the identification and implementation of transportation solutions
Acts as point of escalation for addressing performance issues with transportation services with our internal customers and carrier partners. Helps identify root cause and implements corrective actions
Efficient management and execution of inbound transportation operations to support BD business specific requirements. i.e., Backorder reduction, OTIF performance, etc.
Drives cross-functional critical initiatives to improve transportation operations efficiency and overall cost to serve
Identifies inbound transaction and process standard methodologies and drives adoption across the North America network
Assists with inbound transportation financial forecasting and budgeting
BS/BA preferably in Supply Chain
Advanced degree preferred
Minimum 5 years in Transportation Management or associated Supply Chain subject area
Demonstrated experience in third party supplier (carrier) management
Consistent record in driving sustainable process improvements within the integrated supply chain
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with performance history to navigate and drive initiatives within a matrixed environment!
Advanced analytics and system savviness, preferably SAP, JDE and Blue Yonder
Desired formal problem-solving capabilities, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
Self-directed with the ability to delivery time dependent results
Knowledge of project management concepts and performance record to execute the design, build, test and implementation, including organizational change of projects
