BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Staff Engineer - Rubber in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey
Job Description Summary
The Staff Rubber Engineer reports directly to Sr. R&D Manager and is responsible for delivering technical excellence in the area of applied material science within the R&D organization. The Staff Rubber Engineer will drive activities supporting the development, verification, and continued performance of IDS specimen management solutions for clinical diagnostic markets. Specific areas of focus may include: identifying and implementing rubber process and product performance improvement opportunities, driving product innovation by developing new rubber products/components, conducting root cause analysis for product development and sustaining engineering activities and establishing R&D capability for rubber testing and development.
Represents the R&D function as a Core or Extended Team member in support of large technology and product development program.
Provide technical leadership and expertise to programs and projects in assigned business areas which include a variety of discovery research, concept conceptualization, product development, and commercialization efforts.
Design and execute experiments that further the development, verification, and evidence generation efforts across all assigned programs and projects.
Document and build technical knowledge within assigned business areas; explore and recommend solution concepts and principles when applicable.
Own and drive key product development work streams including but not limited to Requirements Management, Design Verification, and Design Transfer to Manufacturing for applicable assignments.
Ensure program success by working cross functionally with R&D-Engineering, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
Participate in intellectual property growth; submit patent applications and Invention Disclosure Records.
Work is performed with considerable latitude and without appreciable direction in resolving technical objectives.
Adhere to Good Laboratory Practices, all relevant lab operational procedures, and actively participate in maintaining the setting and functionality of the IDS Analytical laboratories and equipment.
Mentor and train junior team members and cultivate a collaborative work environment.
Travel as required to conferences, manufacturing sites, customer visits, etc.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
3+ years industrial experience with rubber compound development.
Must be proficient with MS Office and experience with statistical analysis tools is desired.
