Job Description SummaryThe Global Business Senior Director position leads the $730mm PAS worldwide acquisition platform. The acquisition platform is the largest and most profitable platform in BD PAS.

The platform leader is responsible to oversee the platform in refining and delivering on its goal. The goal of the PAS Acquisition Platform, through a relentless focus on generation, development and communication of value of its portfolio, will provide reliable solutions that improve the user and patient experience, enhance HCW and patient safety, improve sample quality and manage the total cost of ownership, to continuously raise the standard of care for venous and capillary blood collection.

This leadership role is accountable for global brand, product, and life-cycle management of the acquisition franchise, establishing clear annual and multi-year strategic marketing plans, and delivery of revenue/P&L performance expectations within the platform. The role directly manages platform marketing staff that is responsible for developing and maintaining market segmentation, positioning, pricing, and product development plans to produce maximum sales, growth and profitability. This role also involves leadership of the cross-functional platform team [40 people] for the acquisition franchise, as well as driving revenue within the cross-regional commercial team [10 people].

The Acquisition platform leader sits on the following PAS management committees: PAS WW Leadership Team, the Commercial Excellence Team, PLM Steering Team, and Pipeline Decision Team.

Job Description

The Global Platform Leader at BD PAS will lead, coach, and engage a global, cross functional team to deliver customer focused, clinical value offers for customers around the world which will generate profitable growth for the business . He/she is accountable for setting the strategic direction for the platform and executing the strategy globally across functions and regional business teams which also includes engaging in research and/or clinical partnerships to provide innovative yet clear answers for market needs. He/she is accountable for the global financial performance of the products and value offers tied to strategic plan commitments.

  • Strategy/tactic development and execution related to achieving platform performance objectives for WW.

  • Sets direction for product marketing plans to ensure the achievement of financial/budget expectations and product line strategies.

  • Supports the development of WW competitive strategy.

  • Business leadership for WW product development activities; Product launch success, new products and line extensions.

  • Mentors and develops marketing staff in establishing general product management fundamentals.

  • Establish performance standards for subordinates, either direct reports or team members.

  • Appraise, guide, correct and approve performance of staff through merit review and counseling.

  • Provides ongoing direction and training and development of assigned personnel.

Financial Impact

  • Development and execution of franchise P&L, including annual WW forecast and marketing spend budget. Works individually and cross-functionally to develop budgets and track spending for projects and individual initiatives; communicates broadly and manages pro-actively to keep spending within budget, and surfaces budget risks in a timely manner.

  • Identifies, assesses and manages portfolio of risks & opportunities for the Acquisition franchise, working closely with the regions and functions.

  • Makes strategic recommendations or decisions regarding market opportunities and controllable spending.

  • Responsible for marketing expense budgeting process including quarterly and annual expense forecasting for related projects.

General

  • Leads change and drives profitable growth for the Platform through focus on customer solutions (versus “boxes”) and embeds a strong customer centric focus into portfolio and resource decisions.

  • Ensures alignment of Global Business Platform strategic objectives with the overall BU’s strategic imperatives.

  • Works closely with other Global Platform Leaders and functional leaders to ensure optimized use of shared resources.

  • Leads identification and selection of the most promising business opportunities for the platform.

  • Creates/sets the short-term and long term direction and strategies for the business platform, including strategic planning for projected financial outcomes, working with the BDDS business regions and functional teams.

  • Establishes the ASR (strategic planning) and budgets, determining forecasts and delivering on the financial performance of the business platform jointly with regional business leaders and the worldwide LT.

  • Monitors and ensures proper communication of relevant market trends, clinical practices, regulations and policy to ensure continuing strategic fit.

  • Develops and manages the Platform team’s worldwide manufacturing/supply chain needs jointly with Operations and in setting short-term and long term manufacturing strategy and capacity planning.

  • Effectively partners and collaborates with regional business leaders, R&D, Medical Affairs, R&D, Business Development, and other functions to ensure development and execution of a solutions strategy.

  • Leads and supports resource decisions for associate career development recognizing that leadership happens at all levels and in line with critical capabilities for BD and BDDS.

  • Jointly with functional leaders, she/he is responsible for Core Team Leaders’ performance.

  • Defines and drives execution of platform portfolio strategy, product roadmap and priorities for specified market segment in partnership with Marketing and other key functions.

  • Maintains strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, professional associations, and advisory boards in partnership with Scientific Affairs.

  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.

  • Leads/initiates/participates in strategic and executional programs/processes to maximize worldwide growth and profitability of this premiere franchise. Builds and leverages market knowledge and tools (including GMPH) to contribute to strategy development and execution, and effective budget management, to deliver on financial commitments/KBOs.
