BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Calibration Technician I in Glens Falls, New York
Job Description SummaryPerforms calibrations and related daily activities as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure for Calibration and serves as a technical resource to support plant goals in a competitive medical device manufacturing organization.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs calibrations for all Measurement & Test Equipment in the calibration system and performs testing to evaluate new equipment/processes using written instructions and pre-established guidelines.
Performs basic set-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting on calibrated M&TE, tooling, and equipment.
Provides technical support for developing new test methods for calibration or process validation studies as part of new product development, design transfer, cost reduction, and safety programs.
Maintains existing calibration scheduling, recall, and record systems (electronic & hard copy).
Completes and reviews documentation in accordance with established procedures and quality system requirements (CGMP, ISO).
Issues reports and documentation in accordance with established procedures on a variety of quality system programs related to QSR (CGMP) and ISO requirements.
May have to work some off-hours shifts. Limited travel may be required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Ability to understand and comply wth FDA regulations, ISO requirements, and BD Quality Systems
Ability to use and understand measurement & test equipment.
Well-developed organizational skills required to complete scheduled calibrations on time.
Basic technical writing skills and be able to maintain a lab notebook.
Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings.
Basic computer skills.
Math skills up to basic algebra and geometry.
Communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships in a team environment.
Flexible in regards to work and shift assignments.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
ASQ certification a plus.
Basic statistics a plus.
Physics a plus.
Experience with data acquisition systems a plus.
Experience with Word and Excel (spreadsheets) is preferred
Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
One to two years of college level study in sciences or engineering, or comparable technical training or industrial lab experience
And/Or a minimum of six years related technical experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing or industrial lab environment.
Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at machines or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 40 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes. Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).
On-the-Job, SOP’s required for position and CGMP.
