About the role:

Based in our Queensbury, NY offices, as Financial Analyst, you will perform accounting activities relating to maintenance of complete and accurate general ledger accounts, financial statements, and managerial reports. You will collaborate with Business Unit functions and leadership to ensure the accuracy of quarterly headcount projections, annual headcount budgets, as well as monitor and track headcount changes for purposes of providing analysis and commentary for management decision support.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure financial statements accuracy by reconciling account balances and creating journal entries within tight month-end deadlines.

  • Record payroll journal entries and accruals into the general ledger and prepare Headcount report on a monthly basis, and assists with month-end closing including prepare and book monthly accruals.

  • Understands budgeting, planning and operational data, to run reports and develop ad-hoc reports using MS Excel and standardized planning tools.

  • Track and maintain headcount forecast for all changes in headcount, and supports planning and budgeting effort.

  • Prepares ad-hoc analysis for Plant Leadership and Team Leaders.

  • Works collaboratively with Finance Team in preparation and distribution of standard business unit reports, including month-end reports and information reports for quarterly compilations and year-end audit.

  • Writes up journal entries to adjust and/or reclass general ledger coding as needed, within 24 hours of proofing.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to employees on accounting procedures. Assist in SOX testing and testing coordination.

  • Supports fixed asset accounting by working with project owners and plant staff to set capital budget, and track projects through completion.

  • Responsible for ad-hoc analysis and information requests from business unit leaders, and special projects as assigned.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you require:

  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, etc.) to create and manipulate data.

  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures – GAAP/SOX.

  • Good organizational skills, close attention to detail, and able to manage several priorities proactively under time limits.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of various intricacies of the accounting processes, and how the accounting activities interrelate to the company’s operational and financial processes.

  • Able to analyze and resolve elaborate accounting issues of a broad scope, using independent judgment.

  • Highly responsive, with a strong sense of urgency paired with a definitive emphasis on quality control.

  • The ability to work effectively in a high growth matrixed environment.

  • Collaborative working style, ability to cultivate effective working relationships, and build trust in a team setting.

  • Strong collaboration and ability to build relationships and rapport with all partners, and influence within at all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.

  • Must be willing to relocate for growth opportunity within the Finance organization.

Education and experience required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience with general ledger, monthly close activities, and a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting a strong plus.
