Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
Advanced engineering resource to improve the competitiveness of the organization in a performance based team environment. Proficient team leader and project manager to lead any complexity of projects to completion. Participate in the development of the Glens Falls Quality and Management system and capable of fulfilling the next level of management.
Essential Job Functions:
Successfully lead meetings and effectively follow-up on action steps.
Lead large, complex projects utilizing cross functional teams.
Initiates and leads multiple engineering projects in support of the facility’s tactical plan:
Design and/or technology transfers, vertical integrations, maintenance of business projects, continuous improvement projects.
Author CRs, protocols, technical reports and CB2s.
Develop and perform validation studies.
Analyze process capability
Trouble-shoot processes, equipment and quality systems. Develop and implement corrective actions.
Design, develop, qualify, and validate manufacturing processes and tooling/equipment to drive continuous improvement and cost reductions.
Technical interface to divisional and external customers.
Leader of technical personnel.
Establishes engineering priorities based on business needs.
Coordinates with other functions in obtaining resources to ensure successful/on-time completion of projects.
Promotes and challenges new ideas and technologies to advance the business.
Promotes teamwork among engineers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Experienced in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment.
Manufacturing engineering experience in medical device and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing, process development, and process validation.
Experienced in design and/or technology transfers.
Strong written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experienced in leading cross functional teams.
Strong project management skills.
Political Savvy.
Proven track record in managing multiple projects to conclusion with measurable results.
Experienced with financial system/costing, including inputs that effect product costing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Six Sigma Certification.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
Engineering experience in combination medical device manufacturing.
Interviewing and selection skills.
Education and/or Experience:
- Four (4) Year Degree, plus minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Demands:
Regular typing and computer work performed daily.
Requires occasional light physical effort (e.g., prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping reaching and/or lifting of light items - up to 30 lbs.).
Work Environment:
General office and medical device manufacturing environment.
May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes, requiring some precaution.
Some minor inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).
Training Requirements:
On-the-job, SOP’s required for position, and GMP.
