BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Facilities Manager in Holdrege, Nebraska
Job Description SummaryThis position is responsible for maintaining the BD Holdrege facility and related systems including building maintenance, safety and environmental compliance, project work, vendor management and related documentation. This position will give direction and have responsibility of leading the facilities technical staff including the facilities engineer. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
Has the oversite of facilities maintenance personnel (BD associates or Contracted) to achieve a high level of building services with efficient use of resources.
Direct the efforts of the facilities engineer.
Evaluate manpower requirements and skills needed for positions including overtime needs and authorization of recommend subcontracting work as appropriate.
Provide leadership and development to direct reports (both hourly and salaried) including overall performance evaluation.
Initiate and coordinate training programs for direct reports either internally or with Contracted associates.
Assist in annual budget preparation and monitoring budget spend throughout the year.
Responsible for overseeing and managing the installation, validation and maintenance of all facility and utility systems such as chiller plant, HVAC, electrical, potable water, process water, compressed gases, vacuum, etc.
Assures that out-sourced facility maintenance and building and grounds services are performed at a high quality level, timely, and within budget cost constraints.
Manages contract groups to assure quality services.
Assures efficient utilization of building facilities and space to maintain business competitiveness.
Assist in building renovation construction projects to assure timely completion minimal disruption, budget conformance, regulatory compliance and customer need satisfaction.
In collaboration with facility staff and contractors, maintain building systems for fire and accident prevention.
Assures building compliance with regulatory standards.
Perform design reviews to assure compliance with regulatory standards.
Ensure Contractors are trained and comply with GMP's and required internal procedures.
Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental laws or regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
Supports EH&S department in the following standards: ISO, OSHA, EPA, and FDA GMP’s.
Control departmental expenditures to meet budget constraints.
Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Required: Associate's degree in engineering or related field
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
Required:Minimum 5 years technical experience.
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
Preferred: Certified Facility Manager
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical blueprint reading.
Ability to set expectations for direct reports and provide timely feedback.
Must be proficient with Hazardous waste and EPA regulations
Must have proficient knowledge of Electrical, mechanical boiler, air conditioning, plumbing or construction
Works with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail, highly organized.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and SAP preferred.
Ability to speak, read and write English
SUPERVISION Responsible for the leadership and supervision of the facilities technical staff.
Effective facility service levels and equipment needs.
Meets or exceeds budgeted financial expectations.
Responsible for the validation and maintenance of all facility and utility systems such as chiller plant, HVAC, electrical, potable water, process water, compressed gases, vacuum, etc.
Training and development of technical personnel.
SAP Maintenance Planning for all facilities.
